hmcrn Posted August 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Hi everyone! We will be there (on a Cruise) in November, and have the morning free. We were wondering if there is a nice beach that is not too far from the ship that we could take a taxi to? We could then perhaps cab it back to change for our afternoon tour? Thanks! reedprincess Posted August 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Hi everyone! We will be there (on a Cruise) in November, and have the morning free. We were wondering if there is a nice beach that is not too far from the ship that we could take a taxi to? We could then perhaps cab it back to change for our afternoon tour? Thanks! The closest beach to the piers is Vigie Beach, which is about a 15-25 minute walk or a 5-10 minute cab ride. It is a long stretch of beach with calm swimming waters and lots of shade under the trees. There are no facilities (bathrooms, chair/umbrella rentals, etc) but it is a lovely beach with some local rum and food shacks and you can put your towel down anywhere along the beach; down near the entrance to the airport is nice as you can run across the street and use the restrooms there if you need to, it's also where most of the rum/food shacks are located... A taxi will take you down to that area and return to pick you up at a specific time. Should cost around $25US r/t for up to 3 people. Enjoy. reedprincess Posted August 31, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Reduit Beach, in Rodney Bay, is about a 25-30 minute ride from the port - and be sure to leave plenty of time to get back - there is only one road. Chairs/umbrellas are available for rent. If you patronize Spinnakers (beach bar/restaurant) you can use their restrooms for free, otherwise they cost a dollar. Beach vendors, watersports for hire, etc all along the beach. Enjoy.

reedprincess Posted October 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 7, 2013 We have plans to go to this beach in early November. Do you know how much it is to rent the umbrellas/beach chairs? It varies from vendor to vendor and on how well you can negotiate. Anywhere from $10-$20Us for 2 chairs and umbrella, although the further down from Spinnakers, the better the prices get, and you can always try negotiating. Enjoy. BethV114 Posted October 30, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2013 Which end of the beach is Spinnakers located at? I'm somewhat directionally challenged. If we are facing the water, would we look to our left or right? Is it close to an end or near the middle? We had a so-so experience last year at Reduit Beach, probably due to our own failure to look around for beach chair vendors and restaurants. In fact, I don't think we even knew that there were restaurants on the beach! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Pretty much all taxi drivers will drop you off at Spinnakers as that is where there is a parking area and large paved area )between Spinnakers and the Royal by Rex property) for cars to drop off, turn around, etc. If looking at the sea (Rodney Bay side) Spinnakers is to your right (north end), next to Bay Gardens Beach Resort to it's rights, and a large paved area between Spinnakers and the Royal by Rex. Enjoy your visit.
