travln1234 Posted September 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Any recommendations for a laundromat in Seward? How to get to and from the ship? Wondering if I shouldn't just take advantage of shipboard laundry services (if there is such a thing? idk) for our B2B.
BrusselsGirl07 Posted September 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2013 Royal Caribbean does not have self serve laundry facilities for guests to use such as a laundromat, but they do provide a laundry service - here is a link to a post with the link to the laundry prices: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1877394&highlight=laundry+prices They sometimes offer a special on wash and fold items, all you can fit in a bag they provide for around $25. But not sure if this is on every cruise. This link shows how big the bag is: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1661091
mapleleaves Posted September 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2013 There's a laundramat downtown, which is maybe a mile from the harbor. It's called Suds and ___, can't remember exactly but you'll find it in the town web site. Look under the BUSINESS DIRECTORY heading. You can walk, take a cab for $5-$6, or take the free visitor shuttle ... here's the current shuttle schedule and map, also from the town web site: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=39787215

Didn't use it myself when I was there the other day (used the Holiday Inn laundry room), but S&S certainly seemed popular, there was always someone in there whenever we went by. travln1234 Posted September 3, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Thanks! Sounds good. Would love to take advantage of the onboard laundry service, but I have a feeling we'll be making a Suds and Swirl stop, anyway! With a 7 year old, I imagine I'll be washing quite a few things in the sink, too! lol

With a 7 year old, I imagine I'll be washing quite a few things in the sink, too! lol Sink washing works out GREAT with Zote soap, which I highly recommend and have been using for years. Try your Walmart. It is a laundry bar soap, cleans well (I just got out ketchup and punch drippings from my nephew's light blue polo, on my recent cruise). Best feature- it rinses completely quickly, not like the multiple times you have to do so with hand soap or shampoo. :)
PennyAgain Posted September 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Budget Queen put me on to using Zote a long while ago and it does work very well. I don't travel with the whole bar of Zote. I cut off sugar cube sized pieces and put them into a small zippy bag. With the cost of travel what it is, I would never waste precious hours in a fantastic place like Seward by doing laundry. Send out what you can on your ship, do the rest by hand and do something wonderful in Seward and/or the area with your turnaround day. In addition to wasting your time, the cost of doing laundry in Alaska is not cheap. To do so you are being penny wise and pound foolish.
