Activites on board

Can anyone advise whether the activites on board are free of charge or do you have to pay? We have no idea what's in store for us on our sea days and just want to make sure we budget properly.

Also what kind of activites can we expect?

Thank you :)

It would help to know what ship, itinerary & dates you are traveling. Most activities such as lectures are free of charge. Things such as the Ultimate Ship tour, are something you do have to pay for.

There are many free activities. I always participate in the free golf competitions. The library is free. My wife enjoys the lectures and has attended several classes onboard including scrapbooking which is one of her favourites. While the fitness center is free some speciality classes like yoga and spin classes had a fee. Bingo isn't free and some of the classes my wife attended had a materials fee associated with them. The Ultimate Ships Tour also costs additional money. The daily news letter, the Princess Patter will list all of the activities and their times and location as well as if there is a fee to attend. There is more than enough to do on the ship that has no additional cost

You pay for Spa treatments, some fitness classes (Zumba is free), wine tasting, also some craft activities that have a min. charge for supplies, photos, bingo and other gambling activities, internet time, and drinks. There is also a charge for use of The Sanctuary. Most everything else is included in the fare, including things like trivia, theme parties, live music in the lounges, shows, lectures, use of the fitness center, silly and not so silly games, most dining including room service, except for the Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, Chef’s Table and Ultimate Balcony Dining which have a surcharge.

There are a ton of things you can do without any extra charge. Trivia, movies, deck party, the nighttime entertainment. Many of the Princess ships have a grand atrium with the Piazza, open area, on the Plaza level. During the day and evening, there could be a classical quintet, acrobatics, Princess pop choir performance. The International Cafe, which is not an enclosed eatery, but a set of display cases of food and treats, is usually right there. The food (a few of the ships will sell gelato there) is free, but you can also buy specialty hot drinks such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate. I've grabbed a key lime tartlet or other treat and gone to the late afternoon trivia match in a lounge.

If you want to play bingo or go to the casino, yes, it's extra. Some classes (in the gym or the scholarship at sea) have a charge, but not all of them do.

I would like to suggest that you take a highlighter to mark your Princess Patter so you won't forget an activity that sounds appealing.

There is so much to choose from... Some people take needlework, or a special paperback to read. (There is a library, but i have never checked out their books.) I carry a small pair of binoculars to use for spotting sea life.
