Choice of Drink Vouchers or Elite Lounge Happy Hour

I think I understand what you are asking. If you are on a cruise that gives out vouchers, that's it. You have no other choice. No place to get unlimited drinks, unless of course you have the drink package.

Exactly. It would be nice to have the option of unlimited drinks in the Elite lounge or 3 drinks at the location you choose, but you can't have both on the same night. Of course it would still be within the HH time limit. Seems to be a no brainer and a solution to make everyone happy during that time period.

As a side note I don't know of any bar that has happy hour beyond 7. It is usually from 4 to 6 or 3 to 5 as they want to get people into the bars during lull times.

How many drinks do you consume in 2 hours at the Elite Lounge when it is unlimited drinks?

One. I give the rest to my wife so she can take advantage of me.

.;)

It doesn't matter how many I have but I like the option of having as many as I want if I am in the mood. Sometimes it is one sometimes many more. It all depends on how the day is going and how I feel. I also like watching others guzzle them down, for me that is part of the entertainment watching others. There was one couple on one cruise that was always first in line or close to it. When the door opened they made a rush to the bar and always sat on the end. They would have two drinks before our order was taken. I told my wife that we should beat them to their spot just to mess with them, but I am sure they would have knocked us out of the seats, or called the host and complained that we took them. It was hilarious, when the doors opened you would have thought iit was at Best Buy on Black Friday.

One nice thing about the happy hour on the ship is we don't have to worry about driving home, and other passengers down know if you are staggering because of being at sea or if you are intoxicated. :D

I usually slip the bartender in the Sky Lounge a $5 and ask him to put 5-6 Heinekens on ice for me. That's more than just 3.:D

You and I think alike. Will have to meet up some day. I think our styles, thinking and personallties are the same.

I have 3 cruises booked. Nov 30, 2013, Eclipse. March 22 2014 Eclipse. Nov 23, 2014 Eclipse. All have the booze pack that I will upgrade to the premium, so I can get whatever I want if I want it.

My normal beer is Heiny when I want to hammer a few down. I belong to 6 micro brew beer clubs and need to join one more for the seventh day of the week. I make sure that I hit them at the happy hours but I tip over and above and always get great service plus a few extras on the house. The servers are usually related to the owners so they have leeway.

I believe in tipping for the extras like having the beer put on ice just for me. I live in Mi and went to Vegas 5 to 6 times a year when I was working. I tipped the BT's rather well and became good friends with them Got invited to their homes for dinner, parties, and etc. A few even visited us at our home. I can tell you a lot of stories about getting drinks from BT's and cocktail waitresses while others were ignored. I have cut back on those trips because I like taking cruises and I have more time instead of just a 4 day weekend, plus the "free" drinks with the liquor pack are cheaper than those "free" drinks at the casino.

Good answer.

Hope you are taken advantage of too! :)

We absolutely loved the lounge on Equinox last week. Being served by the same staff who know your preferences, nibbling on snacks and sharing our experiences with fellow passengers was a pleasure. Many of us made future plans for cruises as a result. From a business standpoint, it's a brilliant tactic as it keeps me loyal and opens my eyes to future sailings.

I generally bring a glass of wine from my "2 bottles allowed" to bring onboard to the dinner table in MDR each night. I only drink one glass of wine a day, and I like my wine with dinner, so this works well for me.

I have never had anyone question it.

I used my first two drink coupons for Appletinis at the Martini Bar with our nightly group of new and old friends, and my last coupon for a glass of wine to carry in to dinner. After 15 days, I was 'martini'd' out, and I don't think I've had once since (that was in April). It was tons of fun while it lasted!

On our September 7th Summit cruise our vouchers could not be used in the Martini Bar as well as Michael's Club, the MDR and the wine machines in Cellar Masters. Not sure why but that's what was printed on the vouchers.

You missed a great time at the sunset bar, 1/2 the people were elite, they enjoyed sitting in evening sun, leaving island of Madeira it was standing room only that evening

Interesting.

When we had the "coupons" while the bartender at Micheal's Club seemed okay with them (even thought it said we couldn't use them there) the Martini bar flatly rejected them.

What sailing/ship did you use coupons at the Martini bar?

I think they've played around with the rules on different cruises. I've seen some where the martini bar was totally excluded but on the two cruises we've been on with coupons the martini bar was not excluded and they accepted them for the items on the limited Captain's Club Lounge menu. (Copy of menu here)

Personally, I don't drink a lot each night and would prefer a nicer quality drink for my pre-dinner martini or other drink. So I usually ordered from the regular menu and paid rather than the Captain's Club menu for free as the drinks were higher quality.

Silhouette TA, no problem. I don't think they said you couldn't use them in the Martini Bar, however. The drinks were definitely the smaller ones which was fine with me! And Mark, we DID join you guys up there on a couple of nights after assembling in the Martini Bar. It was great! Let's do it again ;)

We usually drink 2 glasses of house wine each during HH and through away the third coupon. Could we give all 6 coupons to get a bottle (says under $45) that we like?

I don't think that is a option at this time, and doubt that it would ever be. Would be nice if you could or at least get some credit toward one.

On the Silhouette TA in April, we could use the coupons in the Martini bar for the drinks that were listed on the Captain's Club lounge menu. On the Solstice wine cruise that I just disembarked on September 23rd, the coupons were not usable in the Martini bar or the Molecular Bar, and that was written right on the coupon.

That was because, Silhouette TA was a special cruise for special people :p

No, but I've seen people use a coupon or two for glasses of wine that they'd then carry to dinner. This isn't allowed when they have the regular Social Hour in a lounge as no drinks can be taken out. But I don't think it is an issue when the coupons are good all over.
