how does it work when doing b2b?

There are charts for each HAL ship dining room.

Mostly (with some exception) all classes of ships have the same chart for both upper and lower levels of MDR.

There have been several links posted to these charts.

I'll look for a link and post it here when I find it. :)

Because we are in Neptune Suites, we are promised dining time of choice and thus far have almost always had the table we request.

We did a B-B on Niew Amdersdam Ft Lauderdale .. Only problem we had was 9 of us went on ships tour to everglades... On returning the security insisted everyone coming back had to get in the embarkation line.. I insisted we had cruise cards and was told we didn't have to go through booking.. They wouldn't listen to us.. We waited in line an hr only to be told WHY DID YOU GET IN THIS LINE... YOU DONT NEED BOARDING PASS...... I explained to them how mad we were and she got an official to take us 1st to the security guard that told us that and then escorted about 70 of us BTB that were in line out of the line directly on board... If they try to tell you you need to get in line don't believe them.. Ask for someone higher up or as I found out later go to the suite line for BTB passengers... That was only problem we had.. one of our group had a room change but HAL took care of moving everything for them... CARL

Weren't you given "In Transit Cards"?

Always bring that card with you and that enables you to bypass the embark line.

If you were not given the cards, that is the fault of Front Office and should not have been neglected. That is the point of those cards.

We never leave the ship on turn around day without 'in transit card' in hand.

We're doing b2b July 13-27 Amsterdam Alaska. As sail has pointed out, we're looking forward to ordering dishes we didn't try on the first segment or checking out activities that we missed the first week.

We did something a little different from sail. Rather than dine at the same time each week, we asked for early seating 1st week and late seating 2nd week. We are in the same cabin, the one we wanted, so no problem there. This is our first b2b, and we couldn't be more excited.

Every back-to-back and every Collectors Cruise that we have taken, we have always been an "Intransit" Card to show so that we can get right back on the ship.

Someone goofed somewhere.

You have a good plan in place.

What happens with your Stockholder's Credit? I would imagine if it is a b-to-b, you would get a OBC for each booking --- say two 14 day cruises, $250 each. If HAL would change it to one booking, would you only get one $250 OBC?

I'm thinking of a b-to-b in 2015, so I'm asking now.

We're doing the B2B Collectors Cruise (two weeks & one week) on the Ryndam Nov. 17..We will only get the $250 stockholders credit as the actual price of the Combined Collectors cruise was discounted...I believe it was a 10% discount but not exactly sure..

Now if we paid the full price of each cruise & received 2 booking No's, we would be entitled to two OBC for the stockholders credit, but we might not have had the advantages of the Collectors cruise..

We plan to see our Granddaughter & her three kids for lunch, on our "in-transit day" Dec. 01 in Tampa..

We agree. :)

Those InTransit cards provide the freedom to bypass the check in lines. We always keep them clearly visible in our hands and are never stopped.

We proceed directly to security check and immediately back aboard.

For years when we had no choice but to book cruises with 2 booking numbers, Carnival denied us getting 2 shipboard credits.

HAL unilaterally made the decision whether to honor it for both segments or not. No arguing the two bookings/two confirmation numbers made a hoot. Take it or leave it. They dug there heels and that was that.

Same for AmEx Platinum OBC with b-to-b though we did slide it through from time to time and they gave it to us for both segments. That ended.

I absolutely agree, someone goofed big time. Never leave the ship without having been issued the "InTransit" card--it is necessary to bypass the check-in lines, etc. An individual card is needed for each person in your party. These cards are issued by the Front Office and if for some reason you did not receive a card, stop there before you go to the gangway but do not leave the ship without it.

We agree. :)

We also keep them clearly visible and are always waved directly through to security and are able to reboard the ship without delay.

Our TA would put in the request -- HAL would contact Carnival -- and Carnival denied the OBC for the second segment.

More times than not, we were denied but we did get it a few times. How it slipped through I have no idea and most certainly did not make inquiry. :D Nothing 'extra' goes through these days. :)

Thanks to all who've previously sailed b2b. We were clueless about the "In Transit" cards. In fact, we'd never heard of them. Now we know not to leave the ship without one for each of us, and we understand that if we aren't issued the cards prior to embarkation, we should go immediately to the front desk to ask for them.

Big thank you. You may have saved us a hassle as we try to embark again. We're debating whether to hang around the pier until we can board again or whether to grab a cab and visit some tourist sites in Seattle. It's our 2nd time in Seattle, so we've seen most of the interesting areas. But it's also been about 16 years since we've visited. I'm sure a lot has changed.

To clarify about when you will receive In transit cards.......

The last night of your first cruise, you will receive a letter stating instructions for clearing Immigration next day, meal hours and in that envelope will be the In transit cards. IF you do not receive them in that letter, before going to bed that night, go to the front office and request them.

If you happen to be in a Neptune or Pinnacle Suite, concierge can handle that for you.

As to what to do in Seattle, I know we would definitely go out and about and have a nice lunch in Seattle if we didn't do anything else. Go to Pike's Market and bring back some pretty flowers for your cabin. :) You are permitted to bring flowers onto the ship but not off.

Have fun.

Sails, below is the link for the MDR table charts. Just today, we received a phone call from our TA confirming we have Table #12 reserved for our Noordam cruise in late January.
