NoobCruise Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2013 How much overhang shade protection do the aft facing cabins on the Eclipse have? We're considering the 14 day southern caribbean. We prefer as much shade as possible.
Maligator Posted October 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2013 I suggest perusing the S-class cabin reviews (top sticky thread). But from what I understand, only Deck 12 offers any reasonable amount of shade due to the overhang of the Oceanview Bar on Deck 14.
phoenix_dream Posted October 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2013 If you want shade you would love the room I just had on Solstice - 11th floor AQ, room 1580. Had a huge overhang - never got a drop of sun. I'm sure the room on your ship would be similar. It is under the pool deck, so be advised of that. sddsddean Posted October 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2013 We were in 8344 this summer and the 'canopy' is about 18" wide (!), so efectively no shade at all! I'm pretty sure this is the same for all aft cabins except the top ones. Simon

We prefer as much shade as possible. Not only do the aft cabins NOT offer shade, but on our 14 day Caribbean cruise this past March, our balcony was basically unusable due to heavy soot. We are. Back to booking non-aft cabins on S class ships. Would suggest you do the same. Cheaper and more user friendly!
SadieC Posted October 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Just got back from a 12 day cruise on the Med in Equinox, the sister ship to Eclipse. We had an aft cabin 1206-which had a bigger balcony than most. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat. Views spectacular, and yes definitely sunshine-but that's why we booked it. Never had to go by the pool on sea days because I had my own little piece of heaven. This was September and perhaps cooler than the hot summer days for sure-and no soot to speak of for the entire 12 days. :)
