Winston Wolf Posted October 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I'm pretty surprised it didn't wind up being the two _______away names. I figured that was in the bag.

Winston Wolf Posted October 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I'm anxious to see the difference between the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus class ships.
B6ConMe Posted October 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I'm surprised with the "Bliss" name since it's a product on other NCL ships. I do like the "Escape" and actually voted for that name but the "Sailaway" didn't win. It won't matter to me in any case b/c of the size, I won't be sailing on either, but I'm sure they'll be wonderful ships. :)
CruisinMaterial Posted October 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I like the names chosen but thought the AWAY names were going to be the winners for sure. Now that the Breakaway is sailing I figured people would go for the name as it's more common and accepted now that it's actually on a ship and it's sailing. I guess not! Good names for the Plus class, now if we can just learn what - if any - differences will the larger ships bring. One can only hope the Plus class ships have a larger and better designed Bliss Lounge. The Epic's is awesome and spacious... the Breakaway's is tiny and cramped. :(
Bars7816 Posted October 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Now, if they would just disclose the itineraries! They can't all do the Caribbean. Maybe a second ship in Hawaii?:)
jenny105 Posted October 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Those are the two I voted for lol
linwood77 Posted October 9, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Now, if they would just disclose the itineraries! They can't all do the Caribbean. Maybe a second ship in Hawaii?:) NCL had three ships in Hawaii. The Pride of America, Pride of Hawaii (now the Norwegian Jade) and the Pride of Aloha (now Norwegian Sky). They were losing too much money because Hawaii doesn't allow casinos and they had to pay higher wages for american crews.
B6ConMe Posted October 9, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 9, 2013 But there's a whole world out there to explore and so much more can be explored on a ship. Let's hope NCL is as creative when it comes to new ports as it is when it comes to new ship designs and features.
Cruiser Bruiser Posted October 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I'm glad they aren't -away names. I like Escape. I'm a little ambivalent about Bliss, but not bad, really. I was about to argue that I would have liked them to be more thematically consistent, and I guess they are...but one's a noun, one's a more of a verb... Oh well, I'm sure they'll be very nice ships. cjknox Posted October 9, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I don't like these names I thought the away names would be chosen that would make the most sense.

Silverman Posted October 9, 2013 #18 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Those 2 names were submitted for the contest to name Breakaway and Getaway. Remember that? I think its funny that Norwegian named these 2 ships with names they originally threw away. But at least they got rid of the away names.
Demonyte Posted October 9, 2013 #19 Share Posted October 9, 2013 As I replied in the thread started by CC staff, I actually believe that this time they listened the customers (us) at least a little - after the fiasco with voting for Breakaway and Getaway (aka "guess what we decided to name our ships") - as both newly chosen names were popular on this time too. The trademarks for both new names (Escape and Bliss) were filed only a week ago (on Oct 1st) and none of the other choices in the list are filed at all. younglegend Posted October 9, 2013 #20 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I like the names. Regarding keeping the -away convention: remember that this is a new class, so it's consistent with how they name other ships in the fleet.
weltek Posted October 9, 2013 #21 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I also like them. They are the two I voted for. I'm thankful Passion wasn't chosen. I think that was my least favorite, but I know it was popular among some of our posters, so I was worried that I was in the minority. And I use the term "worried" lightlly. In reality, it doesn't matter very much to me what the name is. They could've named them Pebbles and BamBam and I'd be fine.
