BREAKING: Thanks to you, our incredible Facebook fans, we have named our two new Breakaway Plus class ships:

NORWEGIAN ESCAPE and NORWEGIAN BLISS.

These names are the two that received the highest number of votes in our “Norwegians Name Their Ships” contest! And a big congratulations to fan, Nicole Cannon, who is the lucky winner of a trip to Norwegian Escape's inaugural festivities in 2015!

I'm surprised with the "Bliss" name since it's a product on other NCL ships. I do like the "Escape" and actually voted for that name but the "Sailaway" didn't win.

It won't matter to me in any case b/c of the size, I won't be sailing on either, but I'm sure they'll be wonderful ships. :)

I like the names chosen but thought the AWAY names were going to be the winners for sure. Now that the Breakaway is sailing I figured people would go for the name as it's more common and accepted now that it's actually on a ship and it's sailing. I guess not! Good names for the Plus class, now if we can just learn what - if any - differences will the larger ships bring.

One can only hope the Plus class ships have a larger and better designed Bliss Lounge. The Epic's is awesome and spacious... the Breakaway's is tiny and cramped. :(

Now, if they would just disclose the itineraries! They can't all do the Caribbean. Maybe a second ship in Hawaii?:)

NCL had three ships in Hawaii. The Pride of America, Pride of Hawaii (now the Norwegian Jade) and the Pride of Aloha (now Norwegian Sky). They were losing too much money because Hawaii doesn't allow casinos and they had to pay higher wages for american crews.

I'm glad they aren't -away names. I like Escape. I'm a little ambivalent about Bliss, but not bad, really. I was about to argue that I would have liked them to be more thematically consistent, and I guess they are...but one's a noun, one's a more of a verb...

Oh well, I'm sure they'll be very nice ships.

As I replied in the thread started by CC staff, I actually believe that this time they listened the customers (us) at least a little - after the fiasco with voting for Breakaway and Getaway (aka "guess what we decided to name our ships") - as both newly chosen names were popular on this time too. The trademarks for both new names (Escape and Bliss) were filed only a week ago (on Oct 1st) and none of the other choices in the list are filed at all.

I also like them. They are the two I voted for. I'm thankful Passion wasn't chosen. I think that was my least favorite, but I know it was popular among some of our posters, so I was worried that I was in the minority. And I use the term "worried" lightlly. In reality, it doesn't matter very much to me what the name is. They could've named them Pebbles and BamBam and I'd be fine.
