Off Menu items in the DR

The only thing we have ever ordered off menu was Mac and Cheese for our 5 year old...He ate it every day for dinner...

Banana Split. It's on the children's menu but not on the adult menu.

I ordered a side of mashed potatoes every night last cruise regardless of whether they were on the menu or not... I'm thinking other common side items are probably available too.

On our last cruise I mentioned to our waiter that I missed my favorite dessert, bitter and blanc, when we did the chefs table. Two nights later he served me one for dessert! Yum! I also could have eaten one every day!

DW has some unusual food allergies so they will make things special for her.

 

Last week she got onion soup several times and they made us both veal parmigan another night.

 

She cannot eat most vegetables and spices and carnival is really great about this.

If there is a favorite thing you like just ask in advance normally they are able to accommodate special wishes. My hubby love the carbonara and has special ordered more than once.

On our last cruise some of our table mates asked the chef for a banana cream pie one night, calamari, and a few other things that were not listed on the menu. Personally, I thought they were pitas and were probably annoying the staff.

I've asked for a small dish of peanut butter to go with my Warm Chocolate Melting Cake. :D I read someone mention doing it on the boards, so I had to try it. The result was heavenly!

Personally I think the desserts on lido are better than many of the ones in the DR.

 

My favorite is key lime pie and never see that in DR.

Good to know these dishes are available as "off menu" items to be ordered by any one on any sailing. We love linguini e vongole !

I've ordered a mixed green salad when one wasn't on the menu. By the end of the cruise, sometimes I just don't need any more high fat, high sugar foods, even if they do taste great!

I tried ordering creme brulee but since it wasn't offers on a 4-day, it wasn't available.

 

Avoid kids menu pizza at all costs. No sauce, just bread and cheese.
