Ren1216 Posted November 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2013 We've reserved an excursion to kill some time before an afternoon flight. I know the cruise line will hold our luggage while we're on the excursion. But do we get off the ship, go through customs and collect our luggage before heading for the excursion? Or will our luggage be tagged differently so it's not set out among the others in the terminal? Is someone else going to collect it for us and load it onto our excursion bus? How does this work? Just want to make sure that I do what I'm supposed to do so nothing is overlooked or left behind. TIA
98Charlie Posted November 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2013 You will have to take your own luggage through customs. Normally with these post cruise excursions the luggage is then loaded on to the bus and returned to you at the airport where you will be responsible for checking it in to the airline. If your cruise has a luggage valet option you can have your luggage picked up outside your cabin door as normal and it will be checked through customs and on to your flight for you. This is an additional charge and not part of the post cruise excursions. Charlie

I know that in FT Lauderdale, for $20/pp you can have princess check your bags to your home airport, we've used it a few times, it might be called ez-check. during the first few days of your cruise, you fill out the forms and attach copies of your airline flight info. on the last night of the cruise, in your cabin, you will get your airline luggage tags to put on your bags. you leave them out for collection the last night and don't see them until you arrive at your home airport. $20 well spent !! Ren1216 Posted November 1, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Didn't think to include that part - we'll be at Port Everglades / FLL airport. Thanks for both of your answers, 98Charlie and RotaryMike. I'd forgotten about the baggage valet option, thanks for the suggestion.
caribill Posted November 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2013 I have had both of the following occur. In both cases, he color tag given for the luggage is just for your tour and those on the tour will meet in the same lounge for disembarking. a) You need to collect luggage in the terminal and bring it to your bus. b) The luggage will be placed on the bus without you needing to collect it in the terminal.
