Pride Review & Pics 10.27.13 and cabin 4140 (interior with french door)

Hello there, just returned today from our 7 day cruise on the Pride out of Baltimore.

We went over the day before the cruise and stayed at the Best Western on Dorsey Road (near BWI). We had dinner at the pub next door.

We visited Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport. We had a Halloween party on the ship on the 31st (Nassau day).

For the first time, we had a category 4k cabin, which is an interior room with a French door. The door opens for some fresh air and also lets light in, so it is really not like an interior at all. Also, there is a couch and table in the room, the set up is really like a balcony room. I have lots of pictures and will share them after I have them all uploaded.

We had anytime dining for the third time. The service ranged from fair to good, the first night being the worst. The first night, DH asked for iced tea and never received it. We ate dinner at the buffet one night, and it was not good at all. Next time, if I don't want to eat dinner at the buffet, I think I would just order room service.

We had a great roll call and ended up with 37 people at the meet and greet. We met up with some of these people at different times during the cruise and even at the ports.

I need to upload the pictures, so I will be back later to share them! ;) :)

We left on Saturday morning around 8 am. I had made a reservation through a hotel, cruise and park package deal website since we were driving. We had about a six hour drive to Baltimore, but we were stopping at my DH's sister's house - about an hour before Baltimore - to visit.

Here is our 'stuff'!

We are about to go:

We had to fuel at a station near home. We decide to take 70/68 to Maryland for a scenic view and avoid the PA turnpike, which we have driven many times in our lives. We find it to be extremely boring!

DH has to stop at a rest area to use the john!

We had some beautiful scenic views during this route, and we were lucky to have had a beautiful day.

Can't wait..hurry! I'm back on her in 4 weeks!!!! YAY! :D

Enjoy!

can't wait to see your pictures... i have 83 days to go :)

It was a lot of fun! Like I said, we had a great roll call group, met some great people, and had a blast. The people that you meet are most of the fun! We really liked the Pride though. It was a nice ship. I thought it was the perfect size!

Pride is the only spirit class ship we haven't been on. Have been **thinking** of booking her before she goes to FL. Maybe this review will help me decide! Thanks for sharing! ;)

You are welcome! I think you should go for it before she's gone!

I'm on the Pride in 5 weeks! :D

Have a great time, I am sure you will!

My mom was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio. Thanks for the photos of that neck of the woods. That's beautiful country! I'm looking forward to the rest of your review!

That is definitely not too far from us. It was a beautiful drive going across 70.

We stopped off at a McDonald's for lunch, then stopped one more time for fuel in Maryland. We arrived at DH's sister's house around 2, and visited with her and her family for a couple of hours.

Then, we were off to find our hotel!

We only made one wrong turn near the hotel, the GPS told us to turn around and quickly navigated us to the correct road. Here are pictures of the outside of the Best Western Inn, Dorsey Road, Elk Ridge, MD.

It was getting close to 6 when we arrived.

This is the other side of the hotel, with the name of the restaurant (on premises, just a short walk next door)

Back view of the hotel. Yes, there was a bus there. In fact, two of them.

The van that will shuttle you for free to the airport or to or from the cruise terminal.

I went to check in at the front desk. The woman was very friendly. However, one thing to remember: I had booked through a third-party stay and cruise website, and it had asked me for shuttle times to and from the cruise port. When I checked in, the woman told me that you had to sign up upon check-in. So why have the information to complete on the third-party website? They should just ditch that part. Anyway, I scheduled a time for a shuttle (11:30, as 11:30 and 12:30 were the only options). I then completed a form regarding our vehicle, make, model, tag, etc. and received a tag to hang from the rearview mirror. She gave me instructions to park in the rear of the hotel, so we did park and carried in the small suitcase and backpacks. Oh, she also told me that breakfast was available in the lobby between 6 and 9 or something very close to that.

We had a room with two double beds. I didn't mind. In fact, I like to stretch out in my own bed. The room was clean. Not an overly fancy hotel, but definitely fine for one night pre-cruse.

We could have went somewhere else for dinner since we had our car, but we were hungry so we decided to go to the Stained Glass Pub. We had beer, and I had a buffalo chicken wrap, DH had some kind of a sandwich or burger. The food was good. Someone sitting next to had ordered a pizza and it sure looked tasty!

Sorry, but I didn't take photos of the inside of the restaurant at all.

We were getting tired, so we just went back to the hotel and watched some TV. We both fell asleep early, but with my sleeping disorder, I woke up again around 12:30! Took a pill and went back to bed.

I will start on embarkation day later.

We were on the same cruise, and we sure lucked out in the weather department! Other than the last day, it was never too hot or too overcast.

I do have to say, I encountered a lot of "Odd Ducks" this cruise. I had a few personal encounters that were strange and witnessed several things that were downright bizarre. It must have been the Halloween thing, LOL!
