Thank you Jacqui! Any tips/suggestions etc?????

you should get a special embarkation - you should be escorted on to the ship. If others are travelling with you, they can accompany you:)

If things are backlogged, not great, but if all is good, it is very nice - you will bypass the lines for pics (unless you want one), meet the Neptune staff if your room isn't ready - otherwise be taken to your room.

My biggest suggestion - do dining one night in your room. You need to arrange in advance, but your room will have most of the stuff you need. If you have friends or find them, invite them. The table will be set up as nice (if not nicer) than the dining room.

Ask for course by course dining. With a dining room table it' a real joy. And you are still under the old policy so you can use your own special wines.

We had a blast last time. Of course we tip for the service - it's not required of course - and I leave that to your good judgement.

Also, if you have any issues in the MDR, leave your key card on the table ;)

It never hurts.

PS is fun. We have never 'milked' it but somehow they knew.

I think you are going to have fun. If I can help in any other way, please ask.

We haven't had a lot of PS's Just one on the Zuiderdam and one on the Prinsendam. We hesitated with the Prinsendam but once we were on and could host our cc friends and the wine tasting - we never regretted it. (all upsells and all with a TA btw)

Enjoy:):)

I'm sorry, but I think flashing your card is sort of bad form to me. It's kinda like hey look at me. I think it would be better to fill out a comment card.

Seems to me leaving the PS room card on the table would be a classy suttle way to attain the service one deserves when paying for those accommodations

Everyone's different. That's just not my way. I have occupied the PH this year so it's not that I haven't had the experience. I'd rather people do things for me because they want to instead of feeling that they need to. I'm not sure how leaving a card out is classy. Seems a bit cheesy to me but I just don't like people fussing over me. YMMV.

You can just get one of those necklaces that have a plastic holder for your cabin key to insert in. That should get their attention!

I don't like wearing lanyards:D I don't believe there is anything different on a PS key card than the other suites:) At least, nothing I saw.

I have a lanyard from my employer that I use.i just get the front desk to put a punch in it. The only time I wear my card is on a tender or getting off the ship.

Just wondering whether we should have a formal night in our dining room or a regular night?? Thoughts???

totally up to you - I think you like to dress up:D so, that being the case I would do formal night in the MDR and a course by course dinner another night.

Now, that being said, you might well enjoy formal night served there as well.

I cheated and based mine on port schedules and/or special occasions ;)

You do need to talk to the concierge in advance and make sure it is arranged. They need to know at least the day before. They will provide you with menus you so you can choose what you want:D

We did in room dining one night that was formal (not course by course) as DH was tired and didn't want to dress up (8 formal nights). It was the lobster night so he agreed to room service. I was pleasantly surprised by the calibre of the meal and the service.

So, I'm pretty sure whatever night you choose you will be just fine:D

We had dinner in our dining room on Formal Night on the Zuiderdam in May with friends and loved the experience. The table can seat eight if more guests are invited. We chose not to have the course by course service by the dining room stewards. If this is what you desire, there is a kitchen area with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in your cabin where they "prepare" your next course.

We plan on doing the same thing next year on the Zuiderdam.

We are the friends kjw869 & his lovely wife invited to have dinner in their PH suite. We usually have dinner with them anyway. Mrs kjw picked the 2nd formal night for it. It was so relaxing having formal night dinner wearing jeans or sweats. I like the way they asked for it to be left and not served course by course. I am a slow eater so no one had to wait for me to finish a course to go on to another food item. However, they did threaten to make me eat my Escargot on the verandah! Think I'll have 2 orders this next time!

Whatever night you want the dinner or the way you decide to have it served, you'll enjoy it very much and so will your guests.

DH & I were waiting for our return flight home after disembarking our 7 day Eurodam Caribbean Cruise Nov 3rd, when I received a call from our TA saying that she had received an upsell offer, Friday evening, 2 days earlier, for our upcoming 18 day Hawaiian Cruise. Without a second thought I said "absolutely". Of course it was the weekend and she quickly found out the HAL offices were closed, but would call them first thing Monday morning. With bated breath we toe tapped and waited out the next 18 hours. After not hearing anything I called the agency at 0900 EST and was informed that they HAL didn't open till 0730 PST. The agency, not my TA, called me back at 1015 EST so that when he had HAL on the phone I would also be on the other line. 1030 came, HAL answered and 1034 we had our PS and for a nice 18 day cruise!!! I guess you could say our ship came in!!! I can't begin to tell you how excited we both are and how much we are looking forward to this uncharted experience!! Just had to share this:):):):)

Congratulations on the upsell.

You are going to love the PS!!
