One other thing on the video that I remembered that brought back memories. Towards the end they showed one of the bar people making a flaming drink for someone in the dining room. I used to get those coffee based drinks at the end of the meal, tried them all during a cruise. Often would get one the first night and by the end of the cruise several around us were getting them.

Our first X cruise in 2000 was aboard Mercury. Our butler was Rupesh, who gave us such great service we returned the following year aboard Millie.

Thanks for posting as we couldn't recall much of Mercury's decor. I did notice the service though. Sadly almost all the mass market lines have cut back on this aspect. No more staff automatically carrying trays for passengers at the buffet. Fewer wait staff in MDR. We had two people escort us to our suite on Mercury. The next year only one. We haven't had anyone escort us to our cabin in years. While we don't mind that lack of service, I do find cutting back in the MDR directly affects the meal and our enjoyment.

Again, thanks for helping us reconnect with fond memories of Mercury.

we honeymooned on this ship in 1998, this video helped us decide...

I celebrated my 40th birthday on the Merc -- was in the Panamal Canal that day. I remember they had a deck party the evening before when leaving Costa Rica. The big round neon clock on the pool deck was behind me and someone snapped a picture of me and the clock at midnight -- everyone wished me a happy 40th and boy -- was it ever!! What a fond memory I have of the Merc.

Sailed her to Alaska and the Panama Canal cruise out of Charleston and then the final one out of Baltimore. As said by Riredsox and Lightning Bolt (whom we met on the latter 2 cruises), was wonderful and met wonderful people who we are still friends with - and get together at least once a year (either on a cruise or on land). The crew WAS wonderful and miss her and her size very much. Thanks for the videos and the memories.
