sanmarcosman Posted November 11, 2013 #26 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I do, however, wonder if some sort of serving machine can be developed which dispenses a single bacon strip at a time. Those who want more bacon simply press the button or lever or whatever a few more times, just like you can ask the "Bacon Police" for more bacon and they'll give it to you. Repeated pressing on the bacon release lever is a known transmission point for norovirus
elliair Posted November 11, 2013 #27 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Speaking of bacon, I would like to see a better quality of bacon served. That stuff they have now IMHO is not bacon. It's greasy and tasteless. That's why they have to dole it out - people don't like the taste of it and leave it on their plate. I would also like to see more tasty sugar free desserts offered. Find a good one to replace that horrible sugarless pumpkin pie.

TEXASMUNK Posted November 11, 2013 #29 Share Posted November 11, 2013 1. Dump the DJ on the pool deck...get back to a Caribbean style 3 or 4 piece band. 2. Move the Comedians to a larger venue...both style shows. 3. MDR staff have too many tables, almost have to run to serve, pick up and get ready for the next course, add back staffing. 4. Mac and Cheese is not a Menu enhancement, it is a cost cutter, add $10 per person for a 7 night cruise, put all the money into the menu. There are a ton of changes coming with the new CEO...let's us all hope they have the positive impact we anticipate.
sanmarcosman Posted November 11, 2013 #30 Share Posted November 11, 2013 It would be a hands free sensor... Already there's a new and improved bacon dispenser! Maybe they could be placed all around the ship like hand sanitizer dispensers.

Find a good one to replace that horrible sugarless pumpkin pie. I can't believe anyone actually wants the bacon it's so gross! What IS that pumpkin pie?!?! My fork bounced off it in the dining room causing everyone nearby to laugh! The server was near tears he was laughing so hard! Get rid of the DJ!! Please make sure you put this in your survey. Better sail away parties. Get the fun started for more than 10 minutes like my last 3 cruises. Train, train, train staff so you actually get the same answer from at least 3 of 4 staff. Now, if you ask 9 people you get 9 answers. Note what type booking you are classified as on your Manage your account page. I booked on board last April and only found out today he booked me Early Saver. I don't like all the restrictions and never book that and didn't know until I called about something else today. The lady I spoke to kept called my category of booking OAM and later said it was ES. I asked what OAM is and she said code for booking on board. She didn't seem up front about ES. If they change your status due to a fare chage they should be required to tell you also. JustCruiseMe Posted November 11, 2013 #36 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I also would like more room in the table's for two. It really isn't for two (sometimes felt like for 6) and when you have tables on both sides you have to talk to both of them. Sometimes it's nice for a little hello but sometimes it's uncomfortable. People get a table for 2 for one reason to get together. OMG one table on one side started talking politics with us. I said we shouldn't but they didn't get the hint. I certainly didn't enjoy that dinner but tried to be diplomatic and if they only knew I was against everything they said! Not good!
kcwingwalker Posted November 11, 2013 #37 Share Posted November 11, 2013 OK this probably won't be popular, but this is JMO. I don't nor did anyone in my family enjoy the dancing waiters. The wait staff have more than enough to do without having to stop and perform. Meanwhile people are waiting to place their orders, hoping someone will fill their water glass, serve their food or remember that coffee was ordered with desert. chesapeake2atlantic Posted November 11, 2013 #39 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Make balconies on one side of the ship smoke free. Carnival recently claimed that 95% of its customers do not smoke--I don't believe it--yet it begs the question. Dim the lights in the MDR so it's more romantic on Elegant Night. And so I don't have to see that guy from Muncie wearing the sleeveless tee shirt.
Ocean Dancer Posted November 11, 2013 #40 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Have at least ONE club/dance floor with 50's 60's Motown music with a live band!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of us are baby boomers that love this music and it just seems fair to have our own club!;) We like to dance too, and we are the group that has the time and money to cruise more. Why not cater to us? Bring back the Raggae band by the pool. Put the smoking section for the casino away from the walk through to the dining room..........it stinks. Brink back the real Captains party with free drinks to make us feel welcome. Well, that is a start..................:D

So many errors we have heard of including when they were insisting the price on the website was wrong and the higher price they quoted me was right. And they actually refused to even check the website.
Mary Ellen1 Posted November 11, 2013 #42 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I'd like to see CCL make a few changes that would -- hopefully -- bring them a little revenue, and help keep cruise prices down. 1. new ports2. get rid of dj and bring back live music 3. fire some of the top dogs and hire people who know a thing or two about cruising. 4. shows - no more trivia, no more Hasbro game. I want to see a show at night. not other cruise passengers doing a game show or talent show. 5. fountain pop 6. no more bacon police I think if they got one of those new Coke Freestyle soda dispenser machines, they'd probably sell a lot more soda. RC has them on some of their ships. 1. Add hot breakfast items to room service options.2. Add specialty coffee to one of the drink packages, or create a package for it. 3. Add a free smoothie bar. 4. Improve the entertainment. How about a real concert, or a play, or a one man/woman show. I like show tunes as much as the next guy, but theater has more to offer than that. A few years ago - I'd have said the bedding and the service needed to be improved - but I think they've made a lot of progress with both. :) Agree with your suggestions re: the specialty coffee. I like where on Princess, where you can get a specialty coffee package. Princess used to have an unlimited coffee card, but they discontinued it. That would be nice, though. I'd pay extra for better coffee. IMHO, the specialty coffee that CCL sold on-board, on my last cruise with them, wasn't very good. :(
elliair Posted November 11, 2013 #43 Share Posted November 11, 2013 What IS that pumpkin pie?!?! My fork bounced off it in the dining room causing everyone nearby to laugh! The server was near tears he was laughing so hard! I dunno why they call it pumpkin pie, it's just colored jello with a bit of cinnamon added to it. Yeah, it's diet pie alright - tastes so bad no one eats it and loses weight. I have no idea who Carnival's bacon vendor is, but whoever it is sells Carnival the runt of the pigs on their farm. Carnival has somewhat improved on their coffee -- I don't think it's that syrup crap any more or is it?

carsastic Posted November 11, 2013 #45 Share Posted November 11, 2013 1 lower the rates , the last six months the rates are just to high 2 allow more than 5 in a room ( after all it's only for sleeping and we can shower in the spa) 3. More comfort food , corned dogs and funnel cakes Get the rates to 30 pp per nite
TwinPrincessMermaids Posted November 11, 2013 #46 Share Posted November 11, 2013 The awkward dancing haulted service in the MDR is seriously a bad idea given that they have downsized the wait staff. We would groan when the lights dimmed for shoooowtime. Meant we would have to wait even longer for waters and entrees... Jayfo Posted November 11, 2013 #48 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I've seen some of the stickers on my last cruise, but I've also seen lots of posts on here saying that they still haven't been able to keep up with all the chair hogging. If that's changed in the last few months, great! If not, my proposed "reassignment" of the bacon police is just one possible way to fix the situation. If people would only learn to act civilized we wouldn't need any one of these things. Sigh. :(
Rare LMaxwell Posted November 11, 2013 #49 Share Posted November 11, 2013 2. Shopping seminar misleading financial advice. If this is a reference to port talks that steer you towards certain retailers, I agree. However, I do strongly wish that there were more INFORMATIVE/HISTORICAL based port talks; ways to learn about where you are going more than just the cruiseline sponsored tourist trap. I don't go on a cruise to sit at a Senor Frogs or Margaritaville 50 feet from the ship; I'd like to learn more about where I am going. And another improvement, to me, must be in the form of entertainment. It's not just saving a few bucks compared to other lines (which, once you are in other cruiseline loyalty programs and really pay attention to prices, Carnival is no cheaper than other mass market lines) it's the fact that on vacation I want live music and shows; it's DIFFERENT than being at home. I can go any place at home and get generic loud DJ's, I don't need to vacation that way. It has been years since I have sailed on Carnival. I always keep tabs of their prices and itineraries. Since there are so many sailings from FL I am open to the idea of taking the right itinerary that fits my schedule, but it's almost never cheaper than other lines I already know I enjoy. I really love some of Carnivals unique cabin categories; but not enough to listen to DJ blasted hip hop on the pool deck all day.
kona_wahine Posted November 11, 2013 #50 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I'd like to see the grill/Guys open at 11:00 am and stay open until at least 8:00 pm. Sometimes I'd rather have a burger and fries and not go to the main dining. I'd like to see one side of the ships balconies designated as smoking, instead of both sides. (Starboard :D I like port!) Get rid of the singing and dancing at dinner. I find it irritating.
