Smoke-free areas?

Are there specific smoking areas on the ship or is it anywhere? We're considering a RC cruise but I'm extremely sensitive to smoke and it's a deal breaker for me. We've never cruised on RC, only Disney. I assume there's smoking in the casino. What about restaurants and other common areas?

after the first of the year all balconies will be SF.

smoking will be limited to the casino and one section of the seating on the pool deck near windjammer. there is no other indoor smoking allowed.

There may be certain other outdoor areas designated, which vary by ship. Starboard outside muster areas are commonly included, but the big girls muster differently.

Bear in mind that there made be "drift" from the casino, depending on the ship/ship design. On our Allure cruise last week, there was a heavy smoke smell in the one aft stairwell all the way up as far as deck 7, and the smoke smell poured into the main dining room and its foyer areas during lunches and dinners.

That's my fear. The smoke smell makes me want to vomit, literally (not an exaggeration). We're not casino people so we won't be using that space but if the smoke fills surrounding spaces, I'm not sure that's within my tolerance level. I'm still crossing my fingers DCL's prices for July 2015 won't be out of reach.

On Enchantment, the casino smoke permeated the nearby stairwell. After one experience on those stairs, I stuck with the Centrum stairwell, which was closer to my room, anyway. When I attended shows, I was limited to the balcony area on the upper deck. Seating on the main floor requires a trip through the casino.

I never noticed any smoke in the MDR. It is far enough from the casino to not be affected. I'm also super sensitive to tobacco smoke, so believe me, I would have noticed.:p

Even if there is no drift, the stale smoke smell is in many places. Have you considered Celebrity? We love Royal Caribbean, and are Diamond, but went over to Celebrity a couple of years ago because of the smoke smell. If they will just get rid of smoking in the casino, we'll be back!

I don't think Celebrity is for our demographic. :). We're a young family of 3 and Disney cruisers. Just looking for an alternative due to DCL's outrageous price increases.

Having gone from DCL to Jewel of the Seas and then back to DCL... the smoking was a huge downer, inside and out. We were exposed to it way more than we expected to be even with all my research.

Also the "casino smoking" included 4 tables in the "smoking side" of the sports bar. Might as well have been the whole thing. The cinema (which was pitiful, tiny, and ran boring selections anyway) was right next door and all of the soft goods reeked of smoke.

This was the first time we noticed smoke drifting all the way into the MDR, and when we spoke with the head waiter, he agreed that it was a problem and said that they'd been dealing with it on Allure for some time. (We were seated on a different deck and different area of the MDR on our Oasis cruise.) His solution was to close the main doors on one side and leave only one door on the other open, which basically directed any smoke drifting in to the opposite side of the dining room to where we were seated most of the time. At lunch, we noticed it and asked to be seated farther from the door area, but even then it came in through the center of the room (I think because they had all the doors open), and we ended up leaving our unfinished meals and beating a hasty retreat. Such a shame to ruin parts of a beautiful ship like this.

While there aren't as many children on Celebrity, there are quite a few. You might be surprised:) All the children I've seen on our three Celebrity cruises have seemed very happy.

On the Brillance Repro cruise the casino smoke was very noticeable in the Centrum and the 6th deck where the casino is also noticed it on deck 5. I have health problems from smoke smell so for me I have a tendency to notice it more than others. I could not be in these areas. Also people were smoking before the muster started so if you have issues with this tell those to check you in and they will let you sit indoors.
