Granny DI Posted November 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2013 All balcony cabins are the same size, so you're only paying for location. We loved deck 6 and its cheaper!
tgg Posted November 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2013 If you're an "early to bed, early to rise" person, avoid the cabins on deck 6 forward. They're right over the Caberet Lounge and the sound from the show taking place below you can make it hard to fall asleep.

And I would add that the noise from the pool area can be distracting in the V1 cabins on deck 8 (occasional deck parties, loungers dragged around in early morning). I am a deck 7 fan all the way since no noise from above or below, but still would avoid the cabin across from the free laundry room, 7076 as I recall. I've heard the same thing...we have deck 7 this time...further forward than the laundry, midship. We were deck 6, forward the first time...didn't notice any noise whatsoever. Even though the cabins are small, the balcony seems to give you some added space.

Location is the driver. The only V class cabins I would out right avoid are the VX on deck 6. I did one in December 2010 and the vibration from the engines and propellers was horrible. But maybe they re-balanced the drive train when in dry dock since then.
Trend Posted November 22, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted November 22, 2013 I am amazed that so far out things are 50% booked but it is a small ship. I was hoping to book on our February celebrity cruise and get the discount, but I am afraid to wait now as the lower priced cabins may be gone. tonyd285 Posted November 22, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 22, 2013 We always book a cabin which is located with cabins both above and below. We are on the Journey next year and have a cabin somewhat forward on deck 7. As long-time cruisers and relatively early to bed folks we have found that the decks sandwiched between other cabins are the quietest.
Willow1686 Posted November 22, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 22, 2013 If you are considering a particular cabin then there may be a review of it in the first sticky post above...
Trend Posted November 22, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted November 22, 2013 Yes I have had that dreaded cabin with the shows going on above you or deck chairs from pool deck and have learned to be picky when it comes to choosing especially for a long voyage at high cost. The question of the 50% is my agent is a top cruise specialist who I have dealt with for 25 years and at least 18 cruises.
ddcruiser Posted November 25, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 25, 2013 We prefer deck 6 so we can quickly head down to Mosaic or Discoveries by stairs or up to laundry. Never had a problem with noise. dd cruiser
CintiPam Posted November 26, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 26, 2013 We also prefer Deck 6. It's wonderfully mid-ships for queasy sailor me and offers easy access to the main dining room, Mosaics and the lounge. No noise problems but we have been a bit aft, not fore. Would not book over the lounge due to shows and rehearsals.

Rare mare s. Posted November 26, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 26, 2013 We had that cabin...aft but easy to get to stairs or elevator...very quiet. I prefer 7 anything from mid ship to aft.

(checked cabin thread, didn't see 8090 listed on Quest or Journey) thanks for any feedback. Happy Holidays!
dorisis Posted November 27, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 27, 2013 We prefer deck 7. It is between 2 passenger decks and noise has not been a problem.
