3 card poker

Haven't been on X in a while but booked for Feb-2014 and do love the casino. Noticed when we were on Princess in May that they had converted their 3 card poker tables to include a side (sucker) bet which was new. Has Celebrity started this also?

 

Any poker players out there just off a ship and can answer this?

Optional and it was the pairs plus bet. I had forgotten what they called it.

 

The funny thing is I never bet it until my last bet of the cruise. I was just breaking even and had one chip left after I made the bet so I threw it on the Pairs Plus and ended up with 4 of a kind for a $100 payout. Everyone was so excited for me but I'm sure I would have lost at least that amount over 7 days.

 

I do enjoy playing the table games as you get to know your fellow passengers and enjoy some camaraderie each evening. Princess did have a $5 minimum bet on this table. Hope X does the same.

Are you talking about Pair Plus? If that's the case, it's not mandatory, nor is it a sucker bet. That's where you make the most money.

Pair Plus Bet is part of the 3 card poker table set up everywhere that I have seen the game (Las Vegas, Cruise Ships, Atlantic City, etc.)

 

However, some casinos have side bets (sucker bets) for additional dollars. For instance, some casinos have a 6 card bet (player+dealer) with a $1M top prize if the player+dealer cards = a 6 card royal 9-A in diamonds. (other hands will win additional money such as 5 card straights, flushes, etc.).

This is apparently what the OP was talking about.....as it's not possible to get 4 of a kind in 3 card poker....

Was on Reflection in February and it was regular 3 card as you see in a casino. I got smoked at that table!! Looking for redemption in January as we sail on her again!

Yes, this is what they had as a side bet. I understand now that the pairs plus is the third bet. I guess I never really paid attention to what they called it.

 

I actually won $1400 on our 14 day RT Hawaii cruise on Summit in 2006 playing 3 card poker. I would sit down with $100 and when I doubled it, I walked away. It was my lucky cruise as I also won the big bingo prize at the end. My cousins told DH not to let me off the boat!

 

Hoping for more good luck this time but not holding my breath. LOL.
