dining reservations on the night

This has probably been asked before, but maybe my search parameters were too broad.

With respect to Haven suite perks, one of listed benefits is use of the concierge for booking dining reservations.

Is this something you can choose to do on the same night? Like, if you decided you wanted to eat at whatever specialty restaurant at 2 in the afternoon, could you get in that evening? I'm reading a lot about booking ahead, so was just curious as to what pull using the concierge would have if you wanted to be a bit more spontaneous.

Other than Tappanyaki, the other specialty restaurants are usually available for even last minute walk up. Same day reservations shouldn't be any problem even without a concierge.

The concierge usually has a few tables in his back pocket, just like in most land-based restaurants.

With exception of Teppanyaki, you will be able to get in just about anywhere you want without your 2 P.M. cutoff time. You might have to budge a little on your preferred time.

agree - that has been our experience as well. we never book in advance before sailing, and rarely before day of once on the ship. This has only impacted our plans one time (1st sea day after several port days).

It's freestyle - don't worry about things like this unless it is really a special occasion or flameless Teppinyaki really floats your boat

One recent review of the Epic mentioned that they were not able to get into LeBistro even using the Haven concierge on-ship. One reason is that the times available did not work with their previously made plans for entertainment.

So, if there is somewhere you'd really like to eat and you have plans already in mind for entertainment, it may work out best if you pre-book or are willing to rearrange your entertainment plans.

Another thing to remember with your 2pm cut off is that there are electronic screens that display dining times for all of the restaurants and are color coded by the % of tables available. You can rather quickly narrow a dinning time for a reservation based on the board.
