Can I drop off luggage at Manhattan Pier then Tour NYC for a couple of hours

We are sailing on the Breakaway next weekend Dec. 8th. and traveling to the pier early. My son and his girlfriend want to drop off their luggage then head out to 30 rock, and Time Square for a couple of hours. Question: are you allowed to drop off your luggage then leave the pier? maybe I'll have them leave it in the car till they get back from running around then check in on their own

Yes you can. Just be very mindful of traffic in NYC. It can get really really bad, really really fast. This can impact cabs, buses, subways.

 

Let them know the first rule of cruising: Don't miss the boat!:eek::D

The ship leaves at 3:00, they want you on the ship two hour before sailing.

 

I have arrived at the pier for 8:30, we park at the pier and it's first come. If they are dropping and going they need to get back in time.

Yes, you can. We did this last week.

 

Top tip -- when coming back to the ship, (a) use a cab, it's a long walk from the subway even with just carry-on luggage; (b) get the cab to drop you at the end of West 49th St (or West 47th). Don't try to go all the way into the ship terminal. We paid $21 for a cab ride from the subway station when we could have paid less than $10 if we'd been dropped at the end of 49th...

Yes. We actually got in early from Boston. Dropped our luggage off and had breakfast with our son that goes to college in NYC. Was a nice way to start our vacation.
