Rare Auntiejo Posted December 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2013 There's only 2 balcony rooms left on the Emerald for the cruise we want to take in the Spring. Both are towards the rear of the ship (not rear-facing, just the 2nd to last side balcony towards the back). One on Aloha, one on Baja. We always select a cabin mid-ship. Any feedback on cabins back there? Do you feel a lot more movement back there or does it not matter? Wondering if we might be better off just going with an inside this time in the middle and saving some money.
Dudleydog73 Posted December 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2013 That is our favorite location on the ship, although we prefer the Caribe decks balcony rooms that are larger. What rooms are showing available to you?
Pam in CA Posted December 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2013 My favorite/preferred location as well. If motion is a concern, book the lower deck.
Astro Flyer Posted December 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) My is very prone to mal de mer so we generally select a midship cabin. However she was okay even in an upper deck aft facing portholes cabin (upgrade from obstructed oceanview). I don't know whether saving money with a midship inside cabin is best for you. For me if saving money was my priority then I'd get the inside; if deciding based on location then I'd get the aft balcony. Attached is photo showing view toward rear of ship, which may not be applicable to all decks. Other than the restricted view and the partial view of the adjacent balcony (and their partial view of ours) it was fine. I would say to "go for it". IMO any balcony is better than an inside. -Lew- Posted December 11, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2013 We love cabins aft of the aft elevators...quiet and smooth sailing. Although we usually book Caribe deck, in this case I'd go with the Baja cabin to be isolated from any Lido deck noise. You're going to love the Emerald...
