MTD reservations

I notice I have the option of making MTD reservations for my upcoming cruise.

It's been a few years since we've cruised RCL and a few things have changed including this option.

 

We prefer a two table at MTD but do tend to dine at the same time nightly. We would stand in line in the last before DR opened if we wanted a window but wonder how the reservation option works for MTD. I'm also confused since I believe the DR opens at 530 but the first option for a reservation is 6PM.

When reserving can you specific table for 2 only?

You will be seated with only your own party, unless you request otherwise, and there is someone else who wants to eat with others.

 

If you make standing reservations, you will be asked how many in your party. It's just like going to a regular restaurant. Or, you can just show up!

On our recent TA cruise, we made advance reservations online for MTD at 8:00pm, table for two. On the few nights we dined in specialty restaurants we just called to cancel our reservation for that night. We were seated promptly at the same table, with same great wait staff, each night. I thought they did a really good job with MTD.

Is there a set time for the shows on a 5 day cruise. We are leaving out of Tampa on 1/13 - a party of 4 and would like to make reservations before we leave
