pacruiser05 Posted December 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Do they still do these? If so can someone who is a first time cruiser come with me? Edited December 14, 2013 by pacruiser05
arush5268d Posted December 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Check your VFIP status. Just because you have been on a Carnival cruise before doesn't mean you get invited to the past guest party. It is a party for past guests - why would you ask about bringing a first time cruiser with you? Things like that are why they cut back on the past guest parties - people abusing it. They have cut it waaaay back - and while you may not have known that all past guests don't get to go anymore you do know that it is a past guest party. caribsun Posted December 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2013 They collected the invitations on my last two cruises, Glory and Freedom. To the OP,ask when onboard if it would be okay.

Your Welcome , not sure on how many days you have cruised check Carnival online to see your status / days cruised / card privileges . However ! They no longer bother asking for invitations , most people just walked right in. Edited December 14, 2013 by Cruizinman

Just because they didn't ask for invitations on your sailin does not mean that is the case fleet-wide, as another poster indicated.
firemanbobswife Posted December 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 14, 2013 We had to turn in our ticket on the Glory in October. The gorgeous Matt Mitchum took it and told me I have very pretty eyes. Ahhhh, what a hunk! I was Gold and my mom was Red. I did not bring her with. But the fact is they can walk right in on most ships. Cruised the Breeze three times the last six months and no one bothered to even asking to see my invitation, I tried to give the invitation to one and he said no longer necessary , keep it as a souvenir. tree.critter Posted December 14, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Party invitations for this are now only for Gold level VIFP and above now. Just off the Dream and had a very fun party, Mardis Gras theme and invitations were collected at the door. I am platinum and took my red DH with me as my guest. As they let us into the theater they were prepared with MANY "Fun ship specials" the original drink blast from the past and they were quite free flowing. Bead toss, slide presentation.... was fun. Hint: don't go on stage for anything! The party is only 45 minutes long and several were up there for quite awhile and didn't get to enjoy as much drinking time as others and even found that their drinks had been cleared by attentive servers! treasurespast Posted December 14, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 14, 2013 I am just off the Pride. I am red level, so no past guest party invitation for me. But I was happy to find a coupon on my bed for a free drink at breakfast, lunch, or brunch in the dining room for being a past guest.

Ahhhh, what a hunk! I was Gold and my mom was Red. I did not bring her with. Aww, the memories! Matt Mitcham is so gorgeous and has a personality to match. Tiffany, I see you're cruising in a couple of weeks--I'm so jelly. Have a great time with your family. And, yes, there were several people at the door to the VIFP past guest party taking invitations on the Glory in October. Also, on the Pride in the spring (also the new PG party) my DD not only had to turn in her invitation at the door, but they also checked her S & S card to confirm she was over 21. I was standing right there with her, too. I have never been to a Past Guest Party where they don't collect the invitations.

But I was happy to find a coupon on my bed for a free drink at breakfast, lunch, or brunch in the dining room for being a past guest. My husband & I are both red level. I guess this means we are not invited to the past guest party at our upcoming cruise :( Are the drink coupons provided the day of embarkation & do we each receive one? Also, what kind of drink can we use them for?

The coupons are pretty clear what they are for- coffees, specialty drinks etc - but can only be used in the MDR for sea day brunch, breakfast or lunch. Nowhere else on the ship. bobsfamily Posted December 14, 2013 #21 Share Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) With it being a lot smaller crowd they do tend to check for the invites. Last 3 cruises they check... In Sept on the Fantasy we had about 100 or so, booze was flowing - they had chefs in the back "ballroom" cranking out apps. If you put a drink down another was put in your hand. 45 minutes and more than one person was wobbly going out. Last Nov on the Dream there was a huge crowd, in the main theater... because it was Premier Casino cruise and almost everyone doing that was at least gold. Not very good, one drink and the servers were overwhelmed. They were still checking and taking invites. If you reach 25 days on the next cruise you are going on, you'd become Gold at the beginning of that cruise.
