Sunshine101 Posted December 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Just wondering what would be the best and cheapest way to get to the port of Miami from the Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport.....hotel shuttle or cab? Or does it matter? Thanks!
JohninDC Posted December 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Doubt the hotel offers a free shuttle to POM  -- some of the airport hotels offer commercial shuttle service for$10-12 per person; for comparison a taxi will run about $26+tip (for the cab, not per person). For groups of 3+ a cab is the best option, for 2 it is a wash either way, and for solo travelers the shuttle is the best option.

Good info, thanks John....we're a party of 6 so cab sounds like the best way to go. Appreciate the help, thanks.

Appreciate the help, thanks. 6 in a cab will be a real squeeze  - even if you get a van cab (especially if any in your group packs like my wife :o); you may need 2 cabs, which will still be cheaper than per person shuttle charges. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Sunshine101, you will need two cabs. That is still in this case the best and cheapest way to go. Keith
Sunshine101 Posted December 15, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Good idea - 2 cabs it will be! Hubby has already given me and his mum feedback on our packing (read: shoes), so I guess I should be careful. ;)
Sunshine101 Posted December 15, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Oh, I forgot to ask....do either of you know of any decent restaurants in and around the hotel? If I remember correctly there isn't much around, but not sure.
Playhouse05 Posted December 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2013 We stayed here last year before our cruise and used the hotel shuttle. We booked through stay123.com and parking for the week and one-way shuttle were included so I'm unsure about the shuttle cost. It was a big van that towed a u-haul type trailer for luggage. They were friendly and efficient but be advised that they did share the shuttle with another nearby hotel. As far as restaurants go, there is a strip mall across the street that had a couple (Peruvian and Mexican I think) and there is a Wendy's. Otherwise we just ordered room service at the hotel and it was good.
