We have our D+ gift basket from the cruise we just got off today, The Independence OTS and are enjoying the goodies as we wait for our delayed flight to depart from Austin on the way to LAX. Love RCL, this basket saved us $$$ by not having to eat expensive airport food.

I'm another diamond crown and anchor member who leaves the gift basket untouched. I do appreciate the thought. As others have already suggested, I would rather recieve 2 more bottles of water or cans of soda.

Apparently the Diamond plus gift is better. It has nuts, cheese, crackers along with chocolate biscotti and a fruit nut mixture. I like it all. We eat it all, but not on the ship. We take some with us if we hike in a port or on the plane when flying home if anything is left.

It sounds like the Ds don't like their gift. Would you rather they eliminate it at that level?

This is what we received last summer, before we were D+. I've had the room, we were driving, so no weight issues, and I brought it back home to leave in the break room for the vultures I work with. :D. I was expecting the fruit mix, but was surprised to see what Gina posted, and knew DH would have liked the cheese spread, lol. Nothing fancy, but it was a nice post-excursion snack when we broke open the basket the next time we sailed. We were D+ for that cruise, I just assumed it was a change in the gift.

:) We appreciate the gift basket and two drinks. Hubby eats the savoury items including the nuts and I eat whatever sweets are in the basket (Chocolate biscotti on the Liberty two weeks ago).

I have been saving the ribbons over the years. We also get little goodie bags with blue ribbons from the casino/hotel we stay at during the summer months (we call it Land Cruising). Someday I am going to weave these ribbons into a cloth rug.

Each Diamond member gets a basket and drink, i.e. 2 Diamond members in a cabin= 2baskets and 2 drinks.

If they are married or linked as a couple, they get one basket and 2 drinks. Only friends traveling together in a room get their own individual separate baskets.

I'd be fine if it went away....replace it with 2 drinks. One drink is silly seeing as how there are 2 diamond members in the room.

If there are 2 Diamonds in the cabin, both should get a drink. Have both set up a profile? Children, under 18, who are Diamond do not get a beverage.

I've been saving the ribbons too, I just don't know what I'm going to do with them yet, lol! :p

I really appreciate the drink and all the special perks that Diamond and Diamond plus members get. The only one I would not mind doing without is THAT basket. I always feel bad that I waste it. It is just gross. There is nothing appealing in the basket. Good cookies can be found on the promenade. I wish that one perk could be skipped. Just put and extra water bottle in the room. All the rest of the perks I totally appreciate and enjoy.

We're both Diamond, have only received one basket and one drink.

Yep same here, I don't understand why, they take the money off both of us, It's on as if one of us pays less for the cruise.

The DW gets the drink and I get the crumbs (Gift) :D but it is nice to receive.

I accept any gift graciously. I just sailed as a D+ the first time last month, and was honestly too busy with my conference to even pay attention to the new perks that I was entitled to.:o

However, I did either eat the basket goodies in my cabin, or took them home to be eaten. I missed the cookies that I got with the D basket!

I'd double check your Gift Preferences on Royal's website under the Profile section. Each member (Emerald and above) should get a drink. If the preferences look good, call C&A and ask if there's something in your record that is preventing you from getting your drinks.

We are happy to see the drinks when we arrive as we are usually thirsty and not ready to hit the bars yet. The cookies are for the trip home. The fruit gets left behind as it is just too sweet. The box is used to keep all our important things in during the cruise such as sea passes, invitations, cash for tips etc. The ribbons go home with us. While it's not the perfect gift, some of the items are welcome and we appreciate the gesture.

I love seeing a little gift in our cabin but, Does anyone really eat & enjoy the cookies & sweet dried fruit in the diamond gift baskets? Just seems to me many are left behind or thrown away. Wouldn't nuts and even chips be more enjoyed.

I am not 'unappreciative' of the gesture. I wish they packaged it better, as someone else mentioned. The ship does plenty of environmental friendly things, yet they start out giving a gift to their loyal passengers, that wastes quite a bit of natural resources with its 'wasteful packaging'.

BTW, I am a snack food junkie, so the snacks get eaten, before we leave the ship.
