Captain's Club Revamp- Stinks for me!

Why is it that some people think that by saying the same thing over and over and over that all of a sudden the rest of the Cruise Critic Community will sit up and post "My Goodness, You Were Right All Along!"

Why not agree that there are differing opinions and move along?

Sheese, it's like being back on the schoolyard playground.

I'm right, no I'm right, no I'm right, no I'm right, no I'm right.

Together with post #250 by iSailor, this is a very accurate observation which echoes my sentiments without being offensive. Plus, your attachment is hilarious. Hopefully, those who don't agree will see the humor and lighten up.

I hope that many of those dissatisfied with the CC changes are pursuing Celebrity for redress, in addition to venting on Cruise Critic and will subsequently report any successes on this thread. They have now resolved my complaints satisfactorily. Regrettably, I'm not at liberty to divulge the details here; but, perhaps it will encourage others to keep up the pressure.

Seems Celebrity changes is achieving what they want, which is people sailing C Class and above.

They can sail with insides empty if they can fill the premium cabins. From what people are posting they are sailing higher categories to achieve status quicker.

Loyalty does pay I guess if I had sailed exclusively X and Azamara the past 15 years I would be Zenith. As it is I am close to Diamond plus and have tier points on a bunch of other lines.

Thing is I would never trade those cruise experiences.

No. Celebrity's goal is and always has been to fill EVERY cabin. If they can fill premium cabins without discounting them, then of course that's better, so they are trying to make those cabins more enticing by giving you more cruise points if you book them. But ultimately they want all cabins filled. 100% capacity = a lot more people spending money beyond the cabin fare.... casino, drinks, restaurants, excursions, spa, etc.

I can't help but believe that X set up the new system with malice aforethought. Too many people had paid in full in advance of the revamp and lost a good number of points with the installatiion of the new system. DW and I have been Elite for sometime, but the two cruises we took in December would have put us within 30 points of Elite Plus and our March 2014 cruise would have put us well over 750. Elite Plus for us will have to wait until May 2014. Extra internet minutes and cappucini are not going to get us to raise a big stink, but we won't forget X's action when choosing future trips, as we are already Elite on other lines. Screw me once, shame on you; screw me twice... I surely do empathize with those who were so close to Elite (which is the most important tier to attain, I think) and now find themselves several cruises away. I guess X figures those people will stick with them, being so close to the higher tier. Maybe yes, maybe no. Time will tell.

I paid in full for my cruise on the 23rd, two days before the revamp. I would have been Elite plus with the old point system. Not the case now. Loyality program????????? I think not.

But under the old system there was no elite plus. You have lost nothing but a new level to aim for.

It is fine if someone wants to do that, I just choose to stay with a cruise line that I have a great experience with, no matter that I might never make Elite+ and will never make Zenith.

Yes, but you were given the wiggle room to change your reservation so that you will make Elite on your next cruise. Perhaps others should have been given the same opportunity.

If they weren't in the penalty zone, they could easily change their reservation, just like I did. If I would have been in the penalty zone, I would not complain, since I know that I would be planning my next cruise with celebrity.

My thoughts exactly. So will we cruise x again? Yes, if their fare is too good to pass up. Otherwise, we will stick with Princess.

Cheers,

So you are Elite but you will sail Princess not because it is a better experience but because it is cheaper or do you prefer Princess and only sail X when it is cheaper?

Of coarse they want to sail full but if they have to sail with empty cabins they will choose insides.
Just listening to the tone of posts seems there are a lot of posters who were booking up graded cabins to get to Elite. This up grade booking will continue maybe not with those who are complaining but a vast swath of silent cruisers.
We used to sail insides, thought having an Ocean view was great, but once we started doing Balconies it was hard to go back. Now that we are sailing Aqua class the DW is not interested in insides not after a truly horrible inside cruise 2 years ago on Emerald Princess.
It is like Scotch, good Vodka, Whiskey or wine once you appreciate the difference one can drink the cheap stuff but it does not taste as good as it used too.

I think this is what X is after and why they offer the different levels. Never cruised CC as I cannot see the value above the extra points but for me there is value in Aqua Class. Actually I was offered an up grade from A1 deck 11 on Millie to a Suite on deck 6 and turned it down. I got a butler but not as good a cabin location so why would I except for the points.

We did one of those free Princess cruise in Nov ( what you paid you get as a future credit) we did a Mini suite the most expensive available. Now the DW wants to sail that class when we use the FFC for Alaska. Edited by baldercash

Is Celebrity still giving the same points for those who receive an upgrade to a higher level stateroom, upsell (although I really haven't heard of these on Celebrity), or move after a price decrease? I ask because other cruise lines (such as HAL) do not give the extra points in this circumstance.

It won't matter for us as we now book AQU and request not to be upgraded.

You're right, I didn't loose anything...but also didn't gain anything like others who have spent much less money did. Celebrity needs to learn the lesson...you have to share with the whole class.

Do I feel unappreciated, yes! Edited by 20pluscruises

You are so right in what you said about cabins, once you have had a balcony it is too hard to go back to inside or oceanview. And once you have a mini suite on princess, it will be hard to go back to a balcony.

For years we sailed in ov because there were no suites. Often we had just a small porthole. Sailed on Horizon, Zenith, and Century when they didn't have verandas. They were nice. When the verandas were available on ships, we booked them. I had thought that I would hate sailing without a veranda. In truth, I do not spend much time on the veranda. I do like the fresh air. Last year, I sailed on a different line which doesn't have verandas. Cabin was nice. It had 2 portholes. Loved it. Then we sailed on a Celebrity ship. Picked up an exciting deal for ov cabin. Saved a lot of money, had a nice ov cabin midship on low deck, and never missed the veranda. That doesn't mean that I will never book a veranda again. If the price of a veranda is a lot more than an ov, I'd book the ov again. I am elite and too far away from elite+ or zenith to care about the cruise points. Happy to be sailing with or with veranda. If you think that you cannot cruise without a veranda, rethink it. There is so much more to a cruise beside having a veranda. You can find lots of places to sit on deck.

We have had the same thing happen to us, except moving from Classic to Select. We were not brand loyal until this past year when we had 2 glorious experiences with Celebrity and bought into the CC program perks (motivation for brand loyalty). Booked 2 7-day cruises for 2014, knowing we would move into select after the first and be closer to Elite by the year's end (we were looking to squeeze a 4 or 5 nighter in on Connie too). Now it would take all three sailings for us to just get to Select. Perhaps it is silly, but we felt a bit deflated when the CC status played into our plans and now things have changed. We cannot back out of our 1st sailing at this point, but that will likely be the only sailing for us with Celebrity this year. CC just isn't a motivating factor for brand loyalty to us anymore and we have enjoyed prior sailings with Princess and HAL equally.

baldercash,

Is that what I said? I find both lines to be about the same and have always had great experiences on ships (we sail about 70 days each year). Since getting the short end of the stick with X, I will only sail with them now if their price is unbelievably low. As BosxI said -screw me once........
