Calling All Carnival Players Club Members

I haven't done any gambling in the casinos on Carnival but lately I have been reading about great benefits if you do gamble on the ship.

How do I join the players club?

Can I use cash or do I have to use my sign and sail card?

Do I have to spent a lot of money to earn credits to join?

My friend booked a cruise and had a better rate due to the players club.

Any info would be appreciated from fellow player club members!

Thanks in advance!

You are in the players club as soon as you insert your sail and sign card into a machine and play or lay it on a table and ask to be rated.

You can use cash OR your sail and sign card, whichever you prefer to play. Once you are finished, though, if you still have money in the machine, you will have to load it onto your S & S card and then on the last night, you will have to go to the cashier to close it out and get your money..

That's somewhat misleading....as your S&S account is different than your Player Bank ;). At the end of each gambling session she will "cash out" to her Player Bank...not to her S&S account. All monies won will accrue in the Player Bank...it will not be credited to the S&S account.

And yes, on the last night of the cruise she will "cash out" of her Player Bank account!

So there is nothing to fill out before hand? You just initiate your "membership" by putting your S&S card in a machine when you're ready to play?

Just making sure I'm not missing something here. Is there anywhere to view your membership or points? I know I've played on the cruises before while inserting my card, just not to the gravity of some other people and wonder if I've accrued anything to email then about before my next cruise.

You have to actually join the players club (it can only be done onboard, or at least that was the case back when we joined).

It took me a while to find this little snippet under Carnival's FAQ's (their search engine is pathetic).

Frequent players should check out the Carnival Players Club and enroll with the casino host to earn points and receive great benefits and rewards. Membership is free. Click here for more information.

Additional things that weren't answered yet:

Anyone can join.

Your credits don't roll over and accumulate. They disappear at the end of every cruise. So if you're not a big gambler, it doesn't get you much. However - we have gotten some smoking good prices on cruises and usually a small amount of casino cash. Mine is usually only $25-$50 and hubby's is slightly higher. But we are not big gamblers.

I was on the 2/13 sailing of Splendor and was confused about the whole casino thing before I went but it was really quite simple.

On the first night I inserted my sign and sail card when playing the slots. You set up a PIN#. You can use cash or charge what you want to your sign and sail. I used cash.

I played until I decided that I wanted to cash out. The prompts on the machine tell you exactly what to do. I cashed out about $150.00 at the Casino cashier. PAID IN CASH.

The next day I did the same. Each time you hit 1000 credits, you are paid back $10 in cash that you can download to the machine. That night I hit for $1100.00. Again, cashed out and was paid in CASH.

On the following night I hit 1500 points which entitled me to free drinks for the duration of the cruise as long as I was gambling in the casino. The attendant attached a little thing to my sign and sail that said FREE DRINKS. Since the drinks were free, I did tip for each one that I got (just like the NJ casinos).

The day after I got "treats" in the cabin with a Welcome to Players Club note. For the next 3 days I got cookies, chocolate strawberries, cheesecake etc. each day before dinner.

I have read that some people get free cruises etc. through Players Club but I haven't gotten that yet but then, I haven't spent nearly what some of these people claim to have spent. I did a fare share of gambling every day.

I will find out more next week as I'm sailing again on 3/17 on the same ship and will see if they have my info stored in their computer. It would be nice if your points carry over between cruises. In that case, I'd have 4000 points for the upcoming sailing.

It's new to me too but you can cash out every day. No need to wait until the last night.

You can apply your cash "winnings" to your sign and sail but that has to be done at Guest Services.

Hope this helps.

Pam

Thanks for the link! I agree, Carnival's search engine is totally pathetic. I was searching and searching in every manner and got nowhere. I suppose I'll find out what I get, if anything now.

Much appreciated!

I'm interested to see what happens with you too. DH played a bit on our last cruise, enough to get the Drinks on Us card and some chocolate covered strawberries sent to the room (no other treats though). I was wondering if we would get benefit on upcoming cruises.

Do they email you with the offers or do you have to check your offers on the Carnival site? From what I've read, others actually checked the site and found it as opposed to getting an email. They seemed to have messed up DH's Carnival VIFP account and email.

Maybe since I just did this so recently I haven't gotten anything yet as far as e-mails etc. But I will certainly find out next week!!

You do not have to sign up for anything when you play.

I was a happy camper at least on this trip. I came home with more $$$ than I went with.

I was too, so did he. :D

Plus the money saved on free drinks for him. The strawberries were good too.

The offers may be handed to you at the end of the cruise - the host/hostess hands out letters with discounts/free cabins, etc., depending on points earned. Also, you may start getting postcards in the mail for Premier Casino Cruises - they are discounted, and give a lot of perks like drinks on us card for both in cabin, party, gift, special slot tourny, etc. They usually have 6-8 cruises to chose from every few months. Also, under your VIFP account it may list the premier cruises or any cruise discount you may have earned. You can always contact the Players Club before you cruise - you may have earned some cash for your next cruise also!

Haha, us neither. We've never even earned enough points during a cruise to even cash in on the $10 for 1000 points.

However, we are always getting postcards in the mail from the Players club for cruise deals. And hubby was lucky enough to get one of the 'free cruises' last spring that was specifically given out thru the casino department. (That was before this latest round of free cruise deals that have everyone in an uproar and which is being handled totally different than our experience last year).

I just returned Sat. On the Fantasy. As soon as I started gambling the host found me. He gave me a free drink card right then. We received a bottle of wine at each meal, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies and champagne. I guess I gamble to much. We are also platinum cruisers and won the cruise. When I was finished in the casino I had 4900+ points. This is not the norm. Just lucky I guess. I start all over in August on a Panama Canal cruise.

I'm still a little confused. Say I put $20 cash in a machine and play it down to 10. Now I want to play that 10 in another machine. Do I just put the card in the next machine??? Also, to cash out a the end of the night-does the machine spit out a ticket or do I need to take my sail and sign card to the cashier?

Yes - When you pull your card out, it cashes you out of that machine and you can play the next one.

What I spent was nothing..Some people are saying that they accumulated 25,000 points on a cruise.

25,000 points, Wow! At $2.50 per point, that means they pumped $62,500 through the slot machines on that cruise. (or played a similar amount while rated on table games.)

Even your 4000 points means you sent $10,000 through the slot machines.

I just want you to know that in all of the posts I have read on this board about the "uproar" over the free cabin giveaway, no one has ever said anything bad about casino free cruises...and most have mentioned......I am not complaining about casino cruises.

Every one sees that as a reward for loyalty. Folks who go to the casino a lot spend a lot. They deserve the rewards.

The Free Cabin uproar was because it seemed to targeted to people who did not cruise Carnival. Or if they did..or had....made despairing remarks about Carnival as the WalMart of the Seas, etc and they only cruised because it was free...Some families got several free cabins..even underage teenagers received them.

Yet Few Platinum of Diamonds. .seemed to get them....they made the people who stuck with them when the Triumph stank...the splendor lost it's lights.......The Dream lost it's mojo in St. Marten. pay full price. while those who left.....got free cabins.

It seems Carnival.........rewarded the people who bailed and left on them for the most part.

It seemed to be a campaign to run off the passengers who had stuck through everything....AND they refuse to explain the criteria for the "winners": Age? Race? Religion? Region? doubt it was income How did one become a Winner or a Loser? Cahill..never answered that I saw. The guy who signed the free cruise letter.( which were all on this board) Rob Borden..VIP of marketing...never explained...........John Heald did say it was encourage new cruisers.........so we can assume they did not like the Old Ones???..

CASINO cruises...........are given to Good Customers. Who sail and come back.

If Carnival had hired the management of the Players Club to do whatever this insane Public Relations cabin give away. .was supposed to do......................I would probably not be booked on Celebrity.

Hope you all win. And everything you get............You deserve and everyone knows it. And I think the free cabin fuss has died down. People booked elsewhere. or returned. Or not cruising for a while. it passes. Just wanted you to know........Free CAsino Cruise................resented by NONE. it is a reward to a good customer. Very appropriate.

It amazes me to hear how guests are getting strawberries, wine, and other goodies deliveried to their cabins after reaching 1500 points in the casino. I gambled plenty and received my drinks on us card but I never received anything outside of that. I traveled on Pride in April of 2013. So after the cruise (after reading several posts) I tried to call the players club and all they told me for my upcoming cruise was that I had to play during the cruise and comps would be sent to my room if I played enough in the casino. Has anybody ever called and had them back track to get comps?

"They refuse to explain the criteria for a free cruise" is pretty demanding, IMO. What "right" do I have to know what criteria CCL uses to reward a free cruise to someone. I have a "right" to wish I could/would receive a free cruise, but I do not have to know how they chose me.

If you had 5,000 points on last cruise you usually get the drinks on us right away. But not back tracking comps.
