jeanneful Posted December 24, 2013 #51 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Key Lime pie and cookies are they only things I will eat. Carnival has the worst deserts of any lines we have been one!
treasure4two Posted December 24, 2013 #52 Share Posted December 24, 2013 I did not read all the posts but I LOVE their cookies!! Always take baggies and put a few in there and take them to our cabin for midnight snack.:D
golfadj Posted December 24, 2013 #53 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Hmm, good idea. What could they do but just put another one out. Lol. Or just take a piece at a time until you have a whole one on your plate. Lol. "Look, he just took a whole pie" Sent from my wonderful iPhone 5 using the fabulous Cruise Critic app. Thought of it but at some point they will run out and others might not get to try it. Now if I ask them to put a whole one a box to store in our frig _____
WetToes Posted December 24, 2013 #54 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Has anybody else noticed this? They look great, but, are tasteless. Am I grabbing the wrong desserts from the buffet? Is this just a European (or somewhere else) thing? Maybe I eat way too many Milky Ways...lol. It's not a European thing. They look sooo good, ... and then you taste it. WTH!!! The one good thing about this is that it keeps a few lbs. off DH and I. ;) I taste them, if they have no taste or taste like crap (it's most of them) I don't eat another bite. They are really pretty, but have little flavor. Most of the desserts in the dining room are pretty good, but definitely not so at the buffet. sanmarcosman Posted December 24, 2013 #56 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Fill in the blank: Now if I ask them to put a whole one in a box to store in our frig they'll just run out of Key Lime pie sooner and even less people will get a piece to enjoy. :)

eng4 Posted December 24, 2013 #59 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Lido deck by the desserts Okay thanks, I heard the choc chips from room service were good too. I thought the lido buffet desserts were blah too so I'm looking for some good stuff!

golfadj Posted December 25, 2013 #61 Share Posted December 25, 2013 Even worse is the choc buffet the last sea day on lido deck. Dont even bother to taste any of it anymore.

navybaby1113 Posted December 25, 2013 #63 Share Posted December 25, 2013 The buffet desserts make me sad. :-( The "cheesecake" is the worst. And the cakes normally have a really weird texture. I do love the key lime pie though. This dessert is pretty yummy too. Normally on the buffet the same day as the key lime pie. I also really like the cake that's in this picture. Can't remember what it is exactly though.
mapsmith Posted December 25, 2013 #64 Share Posted December 25, 2013 People here often shoot me down for saying I like the "napoleons" served on the buffet. They are better than the Bitter and Blanc and Warm Chocolate Melting cake! :p BLASPHEMY!!!! Nothing is better than Bitter and Blanc!
sanmarcosman Posted December 25, 2013 #65 Share Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) The Napoleons aren't "authentic" to some but I think they are delicious and a close second to the Key Lime pie. Edited December 25, 2013 by sanmarcosman
sanmarcosman Posted December 25, 2013 #66 Share Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) BLASPHEMY!!!! Nothing is better than Bitter and Blanc! Oh, and the Napoleons LOOK better than Bitter and Blanc, too. cruises42 Posted December 25, 2013 #69 Share Posted December 25, 2013 In that case all the desserts should be made off the ship! :) I was wondering when someone would say that. :)

golfadj Posted December 25, 2013 #73 Share Posted December 25, 2013 I agree. The chocolate chip cookies are very very good! That is always a good choice. Wonder why the rest of the desserts are not to that level?
tropicaledrink Posted December 25, 2013 #74 Share Posted December 25, 2013 If I had to hazard a guess, I would guess that the cookies are BAKED on the ship, but brought on to the ship in the form of frozen cookie dough. My husband works in a higher education cafeteria, and all their cookies come in a a frozen case. I do think the desserts were better on the Liberty this past year than they were on the Dream and Elation in 2010/2011. I still enjoy the chocolate mint gateau (usually served on embarkation day), the cake pops, and few other items. I generally stay far away from anything labeled as cheesecake or mousse - not wort the calories in my experience. ;)
2 cruzen Posted December 25, 2013 #75 Share Posted December 25, 2013 I did not read all the posts but I LOVE their cookies!! Always take baggies and put a few in there and take them to our cabin for midnight snack.:D Wow, 5 Carnival cruises and I've never tried the cookies, Key Lime pie, or Guys burgers. Guess I'll have lots to eat on the Liberty if I don't like the new menus. Also going to order a grilled cheese from room service. Btw, the apple dessert in the Steakhouse is quite good, IMO. I also like the chocolate mint cake on embarkation day in Lido but agree most of the other desserts look better than they taste.
