JJ33328 Posted December 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2013 I recently cashed in some of my rewards points for some beverage cards for an upcoming cruise and was wondering if there is a way to confirm that the card will be on the ship waiting for me. I called the Barclay's reward fulfillment department and they had a record that I cashed in the points but there's no way that I can see to confirm it on the HAL side. Has anyone had issues with these cards not showing up on board?
Sea Belle Posted December 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2013 We cashed in points for 2 beverage cards when we booked our Thanksgiving cruise. I took copies of the paperwork with me but found it was not necessary to use them. Our cards were waiting for us in our cabin along with other types of OBC & reservations for Pinnacle Grille. Have a great cruise! ;)
dorisis Posted December 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2013 You could call Barclay's and ask for an E-mail confirmation and take that with you when you cruise.
JJ33328 Posted December 26, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted December 26, 2013 That's what I wanted to hear...I printed out the confirmation number as you recommended. Thanks!
sherilyn70 Posted December 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2013 If you get the beverage card and don't use all (or any) of it do they refund you at the end of the cruise?
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2013 If you get the beverage card and don't use all (or any) of it do they refund you at the end of the cruise? Yes It will appear as shipboard credit.
sherilyn70 Posted December 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 26, 2013 Yes It will appear as shipboard credit. Thanks, I just decided to go ahead and get the card when I realized that paying off the cruise, buying excursions, plus the bonus points for making my first purchase would get me to almost $150 in credit. We still have the Explore 4 on our plan so the beverage card isn't what we really need but I didn't see just a straight OBC offered (but I was only looking at the promotional materials). RuthC Posted December 26, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 26, 2013 We still have the Explore 4 on our plan so the beverage card isn't what we really need but I didn't see just a straight OBC offered (but I was only looking at the promotional materials). Unless it's been discontinued, there should be a way to just convert the points to on-board credit. I have done this, but admittedly not for quite a while. I now prefer to convert the points as a credit toward final payment. There's a bonus in the payoff if you do it that way.
sherilyn70 Posted December 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2013 I suppose I'll find out in the next 10 days what I can get with the points. The cards are being processed now.
VermeulT Posted December 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 26, 2013 I do what Ruth does and get a credit to my card. After making final payment, you can convert points to a credit on your bill. It DOES work out in your favor... Ie 40,000 pts is $500 credit (vs needing 50,000 to get $500 in excursion or beverage etc onboard credit).
