DreamflightPat Posted December 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) Barry Hopkins, a long time cruise director with Regent-Radisson (and Seabourn) cruises passed away yesterday after a lengthy illness. J Barry was a dear dear friend. Having cruised with him and Paul Reynolds a few years ago we have remained friends and got together on many occasions at his home and New Years' Eve. He was a great supporter of my charity and he and his partner Dave joined us on Fundraising Balls. He will be missed by many people around the world. sea lover Posted December 28, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Although I never had the pleasure of sailing with Barry, I only heard good things about him. Sorry to hear of his death. Elaine

DreamflightPat Posted January 15, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Barry was a dear dear friend. Having cruised with him and Paul Reynolds a few years ago we have remained friends and got together on many occasions at his home and New Years' Eve. He was a great supporter of my charity and he and his partner Dave joined us on Fundraising Balls. He will be missed by many people around the world. I was at Barry's funeral two days ago. It was a very fitting send off for such a lovely man. Many happy and funny stories were read out about Barry's life especially his days at Regent and Seabourn. So many people attended the service that there was standing room only. Someone said "Barry went out playing to a full house" It was lovely to see John Barron there. He was Cruise Director at Regent and Seabourn but has just recently decided to give up life at sea.
OrpingtonT Posted January 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Thank you, Pat, for telling us about Barry's farewell. John Barron is another of the "old school" CD's.
