Pearl has terrible coffee! I was glad to pack my own starbucks and filters... BUT when I entered my cabin there was no coffee maker.

I called my steward and guest relations and was able to get one fast! So glad... the coffee in room service and buffet was terrible, but MDR wasn't so bad...

What do you mean by saying it was a hot pot? I know what a hot pot is and all we have ever had, on any NCL cruise in balcony cabin has been a regular 4 cup coffee maker.

It was just an electric pot to put water in to heat up. Good for tea or instant coffee but we didnt used it and put it up on the top shelf behind the tv.

Years ago, NCL had 4 cup ADC coffee maker and cost-cutting & labor savings took its toll. BYO has been our motto for instant coffee 3-in-1 mix. (assorted tea bags, sugar and half-n-half or milk from the cafe)

Breakfast & Room Service Coffee are the same, diluted & weak - in other words, horrible. Good coffee meant proper water temperature and as such, the stainless steel hot water kettle/pot provided (***) in our NCL Jewel's balcony cabin was perfect. With those ADC coffee maker, you really need to pour the hot water thru twice to bring it to a hotter temperature to bring out the best in the grounded beans - use more beans to less water for a stronger brew.

We "hangout" enough snacking at the Blue Lagoon to watch Room Service stop by to fill the coffee thermos en route to the stateroom for the delivery - it might be freshly made or it could be the bottom of the big pot 2 hours ago ...

On the Gem, we had no maker at all in our Oceanview, and didn't bother to ask Steward to bring one - s/he has to check & clean it daily and stock the supplies ;) They used to work in small teams of two's or pairs - nowadays, doing more with less.

The worst & weakness coffee are in the MDR in the evening, what Mrs. called "coffee water" and some of the best ones are in Le Bistro, obviously - hot & fresh from the machine, one cup at a time.

*** Picture of the hot water kettle in our 2011 review.

So... We have 4 cup makers, one cup makers and hot water kettles.

Is there anyone who has been in a balcony cabin on the Epic recently confirm what is in there?

Thanks...

Yes, we had a 4 cup maker. They provide unlimited reg and decaf 4-cup pods. The quality wasn't great but it was better than most others I tried: room service, buffet and MDR.

The casino comes from some type of instant/machine. It is very strong but at least it tasted like coffee!
