  1. 1. What will you do in this situation?

    • Call the ship, and try to get them to wait. (long shot, but hey)

    • Stay with my friends, and quietly hope for the best.

    • Try to persuade my friends to hurry up, but if I can't, stay with them.

Here's a fun dilemma-type question. Consider this scenario. You're cruising solo, and you managed to make friends with an awesome group of people. One day, you're hanging out together in port, and you're having the coolest time. You thank your lucky stars that you picked this particular cruise, otherwise you wouldn't have met them. However, you seem to be keeping way better tabs on the time than your new friends. When you look at your watch, you realize that you REALLY need to get a move-on, or you'll get left behind in port. Your friends are acting kind of oblivious, although based on the impression you got, they don't seem like a careless group of people, either. All you have with you is the stuff you usually take when going into ports.

So what will you do? (Answer in poll, and comment here if you wish.)

I would leave them, they are grown, and I did not take anyone to raise, plus I don't have the extra $$ to get myself to the next port. I would help someone if they were unable to get back to ship under their on power, have done it more than once, but I'm not going to miss the ship due to someone elses negligence.

I am responsible for 1 person.......ME. I certainly would never miss

the ship for a group and to be honest, it doesn't sound like a fun dilemma

to me. I mean, it is fun to meet friendly people on my cruises but

to be late getting back to the ship? No thanks.

Oh the last 2 options sound the same to me as well. I didn't vote.

The last two options weren't meant to sound the same. Here's the distinction:

Option 4 is where you actually try to persuade your friends to hurry up, using any arguments you can think of. Then, if they don't seem swayed by it, you go off by yourself.

Option 5 is where you simply say "look at the time, gotta run", and run for the ship by yourself, without saying anything else.

I totally agree.........

I am always back on the Ship many hours before

time for leaving the port....

I have sat out on the deck on the Ship

watching last minute runners............

To scary to wait to the last minute to get back to the Ship.....

Hi Barbara:)...I can't say I have always been back at the ship

"many hours" before leaving port. That would not be a true statement.

But I can say I have been back in "plenty of time" before sailing:)

Many hours sounds like 3 or 4 hours to me.....I have taken many

afternoon tours/excursions and have been back on the ship without

any issues but I can't say it was many hours before;)

I get off the Ship and just walk around in the Town area......

to leave..................

I'm with everyone else, I'm only responsible for meand there is absolutely no way I'm risking missing the ship.

I never do excursions (well perhaps once in a blue moon when there really is no other way to get to where I absolutely want to go safely and in the time). I'm back in plenty time always the amount of time depends on the circumstance of where we are docked versus where I'm going. If I'm going further away, and relying on trains and/or buses, I build in lots of contingency time. If it's a tender, I go back early as I hate waiting in a very long queue for the last ones. If however we are docked right in town and I can see the ship and know Iits a simple route back that I can't possibly get lost on, I'll leave it to close to last all aboard time! as long as I'm enjoying doing something ashore still. Often though I'm more than happy to go back several hours early as I'm done wandering around.
