My husband and I will be cruising to key west, grand cayman, and cozumel. I have read that we can use u.s. currency in both grand cayman and cozumel. Does anyone know if this is true? Or will we have to exchange our money? I would greatly appreciate any info, tips, or advice. Thank you

You can absolutely use USD at all the ports. Definitely get some smaller bills for food and souvenir purchases, taxis etc especially in Cozumel, as you will receive any change in Pesos...usually.

Cayman you can use USD but the prices will most likely be listed in CI$.

US is accepted everywhere in Cayman but remember there is a conversion . . .

your $1 US is 80 cents CI

your $10 US is $8 CI

most menu prices will be in CI and many places will also add tip automatically.

seat of the pants conversion is to figure it like an automatic 20% tip just for conversion .. and another 20% for tip.

So a $10 CI hamburger is gonna cost you $14 US . . .

here's a typical bar menu, with prices
