Question re: Wave phones

I understand that each stateroom is supplied with 2 of the Wave phones to keep in touch on the ship. Can anyone tell me if the communication only works between those 2 phones or would we be able to contact another family travelling with us but staying in another stateroom on their Wave phones?

 

Never cruised Disney before, so I'm not quite sure how they work.

The phones can call any other phone on the ship.

You can call other rooms, wave phones as well as text other wave phones. If you have a child in the clubs you will need to carry it with you.

 

Something I didn't know til later in the day, you can use them at Castaway Cay if needed, just don't lose them. Guest Services also has has extras if you require more than 2 for a room, but they go quickly.

You can contact any phone on the ship--wave phone, guest services desk, stateroom phone, etc.

 

Be aware that there is a charge of $250 if they are lost or damaged (my DD says they are the cheapest of electronic phones and are not worth $25, but....)

 

As noted, if you have a child checked in to the programming, you are supposed to keep it with you. That's how the staff will contact you in an emergency.

 

Additional phones are available FOR RENT (there is a charge) at the GS desk as soon as you board.
