tassie cruiser Posted January 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Just off VOS. NYE cruise. 14 nights. Had the best time, beautiful ship, will try and organise myself to do a review but if in the meantime anyone has any queries, fire away... We were in a JS deck 9. Did the murder mystery dinner and had the premium alcohol drinks package. Fiona. Edited January 12, 2014 by tassie cruiser

Cruise_me_Crazy Posted January 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Where to? Where from? More about murder mystery dinner? Never heard of this, sounds super exciting. Like Cludeo but not just a board game? Drinks package? How much do you need to drink together your $$$ worth? Will be waiting for the review for sure. We are looking at RCI due to their specials. Have you travelled other lines? How do they compare? *takes a breath* :)
Esilef Posted January 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Did you go to Portofinos? If so was it worth it? How was the food in the windjammer & MDR? What were the activities like? Where is the best place to be for sail away? Was Johnny rockets good? Best bar & drink?

Esilef Posted January 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Does the voyager look ready to have a refurb or is she in good shape? Was the cruise full? Did the ship feel crowded? Was their enough to keep you entertained?
Dizziedi Posted January 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Glad you enjoyed the Voyager - I have heard that it is the Voyager that we are going to be keeping as of 2015. It is to be fitted with tenders and the Flowrider during its refurb. Cheers Di
springaussie Posted January 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Does the voyager look ready to have a refurb or is she in good shape? Yes Voyager of the Seas it does look like she needs a re fit now. But I was expecting worse last month.

tassie cruiser Posted January 12, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Where to?Where from? More about murder mystery dinner? Never heard of this, sounds super exciting. Like Cludeo but not just a board game? Drinks package? How much do you need to drink together your $$$ worth? Will be waiting for the review for sure. We are looking at RCI due to their specials. Have you travelled other lines? How do they compare? *takes a breath* :) Our cruise left from Sydney to NZ then to Fiji and Noumea. Murder mystery night, you can book online, only takes place once or twice (depending on length if cruise) from memory it was $55 and you start at High Notes bar, they set the scene, drinks and au derives (wine, champagne and beer inc for the night) (we had drinks package, so that was no biggie) then you all go for dinner in Portofinos, where you have a 4 course meal and they continue on the murder mystery game/show... I think the drinks package was well worth it (husbands certainly got their money's worth) for $55 per day and that inc. grats, whereas when you buy a drink they add 15% to each time. This package also included bottled water, so if going off at a port, it was handy to grab some water and take. it was $55 when we got it, but as it is in US dollars, $55us is more now for us Aussies. We only had 5 ports out of 14 days, so if you have a couple of cocktails, drinks at dinner, etc...it doesn't take long. We were with friends that also had it and once the bar men knew we all had it, we didn't even have to show our cards. It was also good as you could try new drinks and if you didn't like it, just order another, would never do that if you were paying $10 a time. Also for New Year's Eve it saved heaps. We have previously cruised with PO, Princess, Carnival and RCCL (rhapsody) We loved the ship, can't imagine what it will be like after it's refurb as I thought it was awesome as it was  favourite ship to date. Never crowded anywhere (except NYE on the promenade ) never had to queue up at buffet, always heaps of tables etc... I know there was like 3,500 passengers but it really was very spacious, and never crowded. Cabins all have kettles, tea and coffee in them and JS and above have a coffee machine. Also all cabins have fridge (wasn't real cold though) It was the biggest ship we have been on to date but the easiest to get around (and trust me, I am easily getting myself lost usually) The ice skating show was awesome, well worth going to The dining room was just stunning, 3 level and very spacious Hope this has helped a bit, any more queries, fire away.. What were the activities like? Where is the best place to be for sail away? Was Johnny rockets good? Best bar & drink? RCCL meet and mingle was on the first sea day and was a great turn out with prizes etc... Which I managed to win one of. Lol. Food in windjammer and MDR was great. Only got to Portofinos with the murder mystery night and the full menus wasn't available but everyone we spoke to said it was fantastic and well worth it..Simmo67 went, she might add more (if she can find Wayne:D) Activities were very good and heaps of... Johnny rockets was great, loved it there. Best bar was the Pig & Whistle on the promenade and the sky bar on top deck (our opinion only) our husbands decided to do a bar crawl one day as they counted up 18 bars , they only got to 7 or 8 and were all tucked up in bed by 5-00 in the afternoon. Lol. Soooo funny. Must admit the drinks package was used that day to the max. Hope that answered some questions for you..

tassie cruiser Posted January 12, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted January 12, 2014 I have a question Fiona, What was the room service breakfast like? Can you get pastries?;) Deidre.:) Just to explain to other cruisers what this meant, this is what happened:::::: One night we were very late getting to bed. The breakfast order form has to be out on your door before 3am. We got back to our room about 2-50am, filled in the brecky menue (scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, fruit, juice etc etc.) and marked the time for 9-30 - 10-00. (The latest one) they always ring just before they deliver. We put the form out and stayed up for another hour or so, so we didn't get to bed till after 4. It seemed like we had just gone to bed when the phone rang and the room service was on its way. The curtains are a good block out material, so room nice and dark, brecky delivered and we looked at clock and it was 6-15am  when it arrived we told the guy that we ordered it for later, he said, no sir, you marked 6-630. We took the lids off all the trays and all there was were pastries, pastries and more pastries, Our friends who were in the cabin next door thought it would be really funny to take our menue off the door and replace with another one with a 6-00 delivery and 16 pastries, no juices, no toast, no eggs, no nothing, except 16 pastries............. Was sooooooo not happy. Fiona.

Pet Posted January 12, 2014 #20 Share Posted January 12, 2014 We are doing the Voyager's repositioning cruise in March which includes a lot of sea days. Did you notice whether the ship organise any enrichment programmes like they do on Celebrity? Usually involves a specialist giving talks on their particular subject over a number of sea days in the theatre. Depending on the subject they can be quite informative and while away a few hours!
barnsey1802 Posted January 12, 2014 #21 Share Posted January 12, 2014 :D LOL, Love friends like that.... NOT! It didnt end there. On the second last night, hubby and I went to bed and discovered a bed full of little brown rocks. Curiously no one owned up to it... I found out later that during the week there was a reverse version of shawshank redemption. They were collecting the little rocks from around the trees in the boardwalk.:D Deidre:)

On our Rhapsody cruise they had some 'adult' enrichment lectures, plus port details, piloting and architecture.

tassie cruiser Posted January 13, 2014 Author #25 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Was that drinks price per person or for the two of you? $55 per person, but now only one person in cabin can get or one can get a alcohol package and the other another package (non alcoholic) is much better now as before both had to get.
