Ship Drongo Posted January 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Come on Holland America. How about using ship starved Melbourne with a pop. of 4 million as a home. :)

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2014 While we are at it........ HAL We need some new itineraries in the Caribbean for those of us who are no longer able to travel long distances. Those 7 day itineraries suck. sail7seas Posted January 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2014 I agree....... we don't like 7 day itineraries. We prefer ten or eleven days and really like the fourteen day.
jtl513 Posted January 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Doesn't everyone want more cruises based near home? :)
ellieanne Posted January 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Come on Holland America. How about using ship starved Melbourne with a pop. of 4 million as a home. :) I agree. But I think the issues with public transport, in particular the ridiculousness that is the Myki system, need to be dealt with first. It's a LONG hike from the port to almost everything tourists want to see in Melbourne. Coupled with the fact that the ships are here mainly in the Australian summer, it's just not a good situation for ship passengers. I would love cruises leaving from Melbourne rather than Sydney, but Sydney os set up for cruises whereas Melbourne is not. And the rest of the world thinks Australia is: Sydney, the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock/Uluru, kangaroos and koalas. It's a hard sell for Melbourne.
