JohninDC Posted January 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2014 American Shuttle is based inside MIA, but I suspect 2-3 cabs will be cheaper and easier and faster. (van and SUV cabs are available for larger families/groups at the same rate)
burrma Posted January 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Thanks for replying; didn't see any large vans but will look harder. In FLL; there are many large shared shuttles if anyone wants a name; that's why I thought I'd ask.
JohninDC Posted January 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2014 With a flat rate fare and better cab regulations the shuttles in Miami have trouble competing for POM-MIA traffic.
burrma Posted January 17, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Thanks for that knowledge; couldn't figure out why there are so many in FLL and few in MIA.
dodger1964 Posted January 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2014 We just started researching our MIA-POM-MIA options for 4 of us. Last time when we got off ship we just walked to the "shuttle van pickup area" and just got on one that had space. I think price was fair reasonable. Maybe $10 per person?? It was two years ago. burrma Posted January 19, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Was just their last week and no shuttles; guess Taxi have regulated their rates and are now $25. so shuttles are finding it non profitable to be there as much. Most of the taxi's were only cars that could take three; a few vans that would take 4.
Ilovesailaway Posted January 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2014 I have never had a problem walking over to the taxi line after our POM cruises and getting a van for our family of 5. Sometimes we had to wait a couple extra minutes for a van. The guy loading the cabs would just have us step aside till one arrived. Hope this is still the case when we cruise this summer.
