Hi Ashley,

Unfortunately, the search button seems to have disappeared again  Can you please post the days and times Legally Blonde, Burn the Floor, and the Illusionarium are available?

Ah, yes, the lovely search button. Our tech team has been having some issues with it, so they've permanently disabled it until further notice. :( They're working on it, but no word yet on when it'll be back.

I don't have access to any dailies from a "normal" voyage -- just a cruise to nowhere. When I was onboard, the Illusionarium had two dining times on each of the two nights: 5:45 and 9 p.m. Legally Blonde's showtimes were 7 and 10 p.m. on the first night only. Burn the Floor was scheduled to take place at 6 and 9:30 p.m. in the Tropicana Room on the first night, but I was there at 6, and it didn't happen -- no idea why. It was also on the program for the second night at 7 and 10 p.m. in the Getaway Theater. I'm guessing the times will be the same on longer sailings, but the days will likely vary.

Ashley, what night do they serve lobster in the main dining room and what is a pub crawl?

The only MDR I ate in was the Tropicana Room on the first night, and they had a Surf 'n' Turf option with broiled lobster and steak. For what it's worth, Taste and Savor (which have identical menus) had the Surf 'n' Turf option when I peeked at the menu on the second night, too, so it might be available more than once. Please also keep in mind that I was only onboard for a two-night sailing, so it will probably vary on a full-length one.

Hi Ashley/other cruisers. Any comments on the Teen area for older teens? We are cruising with two girls ages 14 and 17. What is there for them to do during the day/night in this area (they probably don't want to hang with us all day). Also, how much does NCL charge for a beer or mixed drink? Do the pub crawls include a beer/drink at each stop, or do you pay for what you drink on these crawls? Can we take a case of water on board with us? Thanks!

Hi there,

The teen area is downright awesome. I found myself wishing I were young enough to enjoy it myself! It's got a dance floor area, a bunch of really neat funky furniture, air hockey and foosball tables and Nintendo stations set up in a circle around a giant pillar in the center of the room. There's also a fairly sizable arcade onboard. They'll have a great time (photos below). Mixed drinks range in price, but I'd guess $10 is about the average; beer is less expensive. They charge for the pub crawl, so I believe it includes drinks, although I'm not sure how many, but I'm told five different stops are on the crawl. Yes, you can take water onboard.

Does anyone know what night is the glow party? Also, are there DIY ironing stations on the ship. My clothes alway need a quick iron when I pull them out of the suitcase but I don't want to pay for it unless its reasonably priced.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I'm not sure of the exact night of the Glow party, but I believe it's either night five or six, due to the list I was given by Norwegian. Unfortunately, Norwegian ships don't have self-service laundry facilities, so there are no ironing stations, but for-fee services are available for both bulk and individual items, and the prices are very reasonable if you just need something pressed.

Where is the smoking section on the ship? Does the smoke from the casino travel through the atrium area like it does on the Epic?

Smoking is allowed in the center section of the casino only (not in either of corridors that branch off from it). The smoke-removal machines do a decent job, but you can still catch whiffs of it now and then in the 678 Ocean Place area.

I read some place that Getaway has a hot dog wagon that goes to different locations on the ship. The hot dogs are special and very good.

Could not find where I read this.

Is this correct.

I didn't see one on Getaway, but I imagine they've got one because there's a Sabrett cart on Breakaway, which I saw one day on the pool deck.

I love this forum. Thanks.

1 - More info about the Vibe Beach Club? Cabanas? Do you get a food/beverage credit with the cabana rental?

2 - When is lobster night?

Thanks.

Taste and Savor (which have identical menus) had the Surf 'n' Turf option on the first night, too. Please see earlier pages in the thread for Vibe info.

Correction: I checked the Taste and Savor menus on the first night, not the second. I'm unsure if it was available on night two. Sorry for any confusion!

Laundry - has anyone had their laundry done on the ship or have seen the pricing? Do they have self serve laundry if you wanted to doña load and bring less clothes? Thanks

I didn't get seasick, but it was a short sailing. Dramamine has worked for me in the past. Bring your own (it's expensive on the ship), or you can likely snag some for free at the guest services desk. Natural remedies are ginger candies or ginger ale and green apples (usually available in the buffet).

As for laundry, there's a pricing list somewhere on a previous page of this thread. They don't offer self-service facilities, but there are for-fee ones that are reasonably priced, for both bulk and individual items.

I had read on one of the dailies from the first sailing that it's possible to make reservations for the main dining rooms, (Taste, Savor, and Tropicana). For some reason I was under the impression with Free Style dining that you just show up. Does anyone know if it's better to make a reservation or just show up? I will be traveling with a party of 8. Hopefully we will be able to agree where to eat in time to even make a reservation! I'm not much of a cruiser and have never sailed on NCL, so I'm a bit unsure here.

thanks,

Karen

I can't speak for Getaway (because I was assigned to dining venues by the PR staff when I was onboard), but I went on Breakaway a day after I returned from Getaway, and I found it wasn't necessary to make reservations for MDRs (unless you want Tropicana on Getaway because it's new and demand might be higher). If you want to dine at a specialty restaurant, you should definitely make reservations. You can do so online ahead of time, or you can do it via phone, at the reservations desk in the atrium or via one of the touch-screen reservations systems throughout the ship.

Can anybody please tell me what shows you have to pay for and what's included?

And if anybody knows how much the shows are, that would be appreciated too.

Thank you

Hi there,

All shows (Burn the Floor, Legally Blonde, Howl at the Moon, Second City, etc.) are free, but you should still make reservations for any that offer them to be sure you get a seat. The dinner show in the Illusionarium is a for-fee event that starts at $39 per person and gets more expensive if you want "premium" seats. It's a fairly small venue, though, so I think you'd be fine with the $39 option. Be warned: the food is a set menu, and it's not the best. (It's surf 'n' turf, but a vegetarian alternative is available with advance notice.)

Does anyone know if the forward Haven suites ended up with the enclosed balcony as shown in this pic of the external of one of them on deck 13?

Granted that suite sells for less than the others (save the insides that overlook the Haven area), but when I see that pic I scratch my head. I realize that due to the position under the bridge the balcony it may need to be that way (structural support), but for what that room costs it is rather disappointing.

Is this what you mean? These are from cabins 16100 and 16102.

Is there a big difference between Vibe Beach Club (pay) and Spice H2O? If so which would you choose and why?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Granted, both were empty on my sailing due to the freezing weather, so I don't really have an opinion. There's an argument for each, though:

Vibe is more exclusive, and they cap the number of people who can use it, so it's likely to be less crowded. Spice H2O is larger, has a giant movie screen and is used for the themed parties the ship hosts. The latter has a particularly airy vibe to it.

time2cruise is right -- it's a very intimate space. The rest of his description is accurate, too. There's also a TV and a cigar case in the corner, near the door that leads out into the Sunset Bar. Here are a couple of photos. Sorry they aren't that great. (The first is of the seating area in the Sunset Bar; the entrance to Humidor is in the back right corner. Fun note: The man sitting at the table is David Le Batard, the artist who created Getaway's hull design. The last photo is of the Waterfront area that's just outside Humidor and the Sunset Bar.)

Drat I probably will miss out. I am mobility limited and even with my canes it takes me a long time to get all the way on to the ship let alone to a line and wait.

Hmmm...I wonder if you could call down to the front desk from your cabin instead of standing in line. The line also might not be too bad if you go on the first day when everyone else is having lunch.

Side note: I see you're a Flyers fan. Did you catch the game today? It was a good one!
