Drinks Packages added to some Trans Atlantics.

I have just had an email to inform me that some TA cruises now include complimentary drinks packages.

I am not sure if this is just Celebrity UK though, as the included ships are Infinity & Eclipse.

In the terms and conditions #7 says: Offer is only applicable to bookings made in the UK and Ireland.

We just booked a cruise for April 2014 and got the drinks package as a bonus offer on the Infinity as well as an OBC and free gratuities. I believe it had to be for oceanview category or higher.

Yes I just had an email from an online UK TA; the Infinity in April they are offering Flight out + 2 nights Miami hotel + Everglades tour + transfers + balcony cabin for £1699 pp. So about £113pp per night.

It's balcony or higher for this offer according to the T&C :) also it says 13th Nov for the Eclipse but it's the 9th?

Remember the Brits losing their collective minds last year because they didn't get 123???

This must be payback.

Eventually, the Classic drinks package was added to European cruises; we were allowed to cancel and re- book at 'today's prices' (+£650 in my case)

However, later in the summer, I was able to add the beverage package to our TA, I only lost a small OBC, but the cruise price remained the same.:p

I was told by a Future cruise specialist on that cruise, that Celebrity were trying to get the same deals for UK and other countries ( ie, we cannot change our cruise, without loosing our deposit)

So perhaps, 'loosing our collective minds' had some effect!;)

We booked our Eclipse TA way back last August and our UK TA was offering the drinks package back then too.

Two very happy bunnies! :)

Have you confirmed with Celebrity that you have the drinks package?

It should show on your booking when you log in on the Celebrity website.

We were also looking at those offers last August and decided to wait a couple of weeks so we could book onboard Infinity and get the benefits of booking onboard.

The onboard sales guys did not seem to be aware of the classic beverage package offer on Transatlantic sailings at that time but told us that if it was being advertised then there would not be a problem, we should just call the UK office to have it added once we get home.

However when we called Celebrity UK they would not honour the promotion. Although their own promotional flyer listed the dates of the transatlantic cruises as qualifying sailings (and numerous cruise agents were advertising this) they were adamant that this was an error and pointed out that the small print in the T&C specifically excludes transatlantic cruises.

We escalated our complaint and even pointed out that this was advertised on their own website (celebrity.co.uk) but they would not budge and stated that they would not be honouring the drinks package. They then cancelled our booking and refunded our deposit.

The website was corrected shortly afterwards.

I pointed out to them at the time that there must be a lot of people who have already booked based on the advertised promotion who will be expecting the classic package and will not be aware that there is a problem.

I don't want to worry you but I would strongly advise you to confirm with Celebrity (not just your travel agent) that the promotion has been added to your reservation.

Interesting! I wonder if they are doing that as a preliminary marketing tactic in lieu of lowering prices as final payment date approaches?

I would hate to have a drink package on a Transatlantic cross again,

It screwed up my blood thinner meds

Who knew 3 bottles of wine would do that :p

Please let the colonies have the drink package again without jacking up the prices :D

Where/how did you book to get those deals? The only thing listed on some April 2014 TAs is the erroneous 10% Giving Thanks sales (from last Thanksgiving which Celebrity has yet to fix).
