Not sure I agree with this, I've seen them set up machines for slot tounaments and if you've ever watched you see a lot of winners as the wheels spin and stop. I have always thought that the machines are looser the first night or two so the winners can spread the word around the ship and then they tighten them up.

Slot machines are set that way with a tournament switch and regular play, not all machines have them.. If they put them in tournament play and left them like that, the casino would be out of business quickly.

The machines are set at the factory and are not changed for the lifetime of the machine, they don't have to change them, they are all set to win them money.

The comment about being loose on the first night is part of the #1 myth of slot machines, that someone is sitting around changing machines. It is totally untrue. All this information is readily available on the internet from many independent sources.

Dont know about Celebrity but the ones in Vegas are change from time to time. Its simply a change of chips in the machines. Sme Casinos slots do pay better and are moved to locations where people will see them. I was good friends with a slot mgr and he said if the drop was too high they would change them. He said competition dictated when this would happen. But one thing for sure the casino has the edge, but they do control the payback.

Probably 99% of the machines are never changed, they don't have to change them, they always win, I think your friend was joking with you because there is no machine where the drop is so high, they all pay out at a set percentage over a long period of time. If a machine is moved, its just moved, that all. Some machines pay higher than others, that's the way they are set at the factory. The real trick in the casino is to find that machine.

I did very well on the Sex and the City and Hangover slots on Equinox earlier this month. I was surprised to see these relatively new slots. It's the first time I've left a cruise UP a couple of hundred dollars on slots!

Turning 46 -----

Not sure which Alaskan cruise you were on, but one we took on Infinity in 2012 in August, my husband was dealt a royal flush on his second deal and won about $1500. No hints, just luck. It was late in the evening, I was reading in bed up in our cabin and he walked in and I gave him my usual, "how much?" Meaning, "did you lose a lot of money?" He smiled and threw 15 hundred dollar bills on the bed. Ta da!

Normally he plays a little blackjack at the cheapest table he can find and plays around with the same $100 for an hour or so, and typically comes out nearly even on a cruise. For some diversity this one time he decided to put in a few dollars in the poker machine which isn't something he normally does.

We saw someone win what was apparently a very large amount on a roulette wheel once, but not sure how much.
