pickle2010 Posted January 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Just wondering where the best spot to watch from is? Looks like you may be able to watch from balcony or ground floor? Do you need to go early to get a good spot. If so, do you have time if you are late diners to go early? If you don't go to dining, can you still get pirate head gear somewhere? somehow? moki'smommy Posted January 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2014 You will have plenty of time to go to late dining and still be on time fo the pirate night festivities. Where to watch depends on what you want. If you want to dance on the main floor--be there. We like to watch from the starboard "balcony" as this is the best spot for the fireworks IMHO. Trekker954 Posted January 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2014 we watched the fireworks from the forward starboard Deck 12. The fireworks actually start about 15 minutes after the show starts. Quite late, especially if the night is chilly. :)
drb116 Posted January 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2014 The shows are different depending on the ship, so the best watching point will depend on which boat you are on.
Lady_Jag Posted January 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2014 My friend said the best view of the firewworks on the Dream was while she was riding the aquaduck with her son. :)
cruisegirl99 Posted January 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I'm sure you could watch them from your verandah if you were on that side of the ship. I always go up to the pool deck to watch them and have a great view.
Dsnygrl324 Posted February 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2014 They don't have fireworks for the Alaska cruise...They don't do ANYTHING fun! No pirate party, no fireworks, no midnight dessert buffet...BOO! Oh don't worry, we still had an AWESOME time!
moki'smommy Posted February 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) I'm sure you could watch them from your verandah if you were on that side of the ship. I always go up to the pool deck to watch them and have a great view. We got a letter in our cabin asking us to be sure that there were no items left on our balcony and to NOT watch from the balcony due to risk from a stray spark. Besides, the view is better from the open decks. The dessert buffet has been eliminated on all ships; the official excuse was that no one came and there was too much waste. Of course the reason people didn't come is that it was so poorly advertised--only the regulars knew about it. Fireworks are not possible in Alaska due to government regulations. They had the Dessert Buffet on the 2/1/14 Fantasy. The Dinning room staff advised us of it at dinner . Yes poorly attended . Plenty of time to attend the deck festivities after late dinning. Beware of those kids swinging their plastic swords around at the party . Saw many close calls for eye injuries if not actual injuries.

Yeah! Maybe they have re-instituted it...at least on some cruises. They have a few items that are not served at any other time on the cruise and are really yummy.
