I am excited to try X for the 1st time. We are fun loving and semi-young couple (LOL-late 20's) but are not huge party animals & are pretty low key and laid back, so we are excited to get a taste of the more posh cruise line! :P

Enough blabbing....on to CABIN SELECTION!

Right now we are in AQ #1605 (Deck 11-Penthouse) I like the size of the balcony, but am slightly concerned about noise above? We also love to be on the side that faces the land while in port. I know this changes depending on a few different elements, but any idea which side would have better odds? We are sailing Dec 28th (Western Caribbean) I believe #1605's opposite #1610 is available on the other side of the ship, if we need to change. Would welcome any other cabin # suggestions as well- we love peace and quiet and do not mind a walk to the room! Thoughts?

Check out the Sticky for S class cabin information or simply do a search for the staterooms you're interested in. There's a wealth of information to be had. Have a great cruise

If 1610 is still available, I would go for that stateroom. Same size balcony as 1605, but 1610 has the bed by the bath. We like that configuration the best as the desk is by the balcony and it seems to open up that area leading out to the balcony. 1605 has the bed by the balcony.

Both are in an excellent location on the ship. In the past we had 1606 on Solstice, and loved that stateroom. We have 1610 on Silhouette this Fall for a TA.

That would be my recommendation.

We are in that room in March - just moved to it so will report any issues.

Regardless of the side, you should be aware of the roof on top of the staterooms in the middle section. 1605 is right on the edge of that section. It might not be covered by the roof that much but the view forward will be partially blocked by the steel supports of the roof.

However 1605 has a slightly larger balcony (because of the angle).

I changed 1604 which we booked at first to a stateroom more forward - just because the large overhanging roof really bothered me.

The staterooms in the forward or aft (Cat A2) of the middle section (Cat A1) which is set back a little don´t have that roof.

Here´s an example of what I mean. Taken on the Connie, which has the same overhang on the Aqua-Class staterooms.

We seldom heard the Loungers on the sun deck beeing moved. But never to a point that it bothered us.

Here ares some S-Class pics on which you can see the balconies of the S-Class. IMHO the forward or middle hump cabins are much nicer because they do not have the roof and the support beams.

As I said, the roof really bothered me. Whenever I wanted to take a picture off the balcony, I had the roof or a metal beam on it...

Just to confuse you further - we've stayed in 1610 and then in a regular balcony 1548. We MUCH prefer the bed by the balcony. To us THAT configuration makes the room seem larger and the closet more accessible.

Also, that way the dressing area is all in one place without having to walk around the bed.

So we'd prefer 1605. Just check what's over you and , as Bosox said, check out the SClass cabin sticky at the top of the Celebrity forum.

(We also ended up preferring the more forward cabin with the smaller overhang on the balcony )
