kkpcruiser Posted January 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2014 I've been looking to do a Mediterranean cruise for a few years now. I know they are very port intensive but good weather is a key factor For us. Looking to go out of Barcelona or Venice. Is there a better month to cruise here with calmer seas, less rain, better chance of sunshine? Thanks in advance for any help!
paul929207 Posted January 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2014 We were there last October and the weather was great.
diesel1973 Posted January 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Have done this cruise 4 times always in Sep. or Oct. Less crowded and more comfortable weather. As far as rough seas they can happen any time. Only once were we unable to dock at intended port because of high winds but went to a different one. Good luck with your choice!:):):)
portcbob Posted January 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Hi. Went on the Norwegian Jade from Venice for a 14 nighter in the Med in late May/early June in 2012 and the weather was absolutely perfect. Never saw a cloud the whole trip and the sea was flat as a tack. Cheers Bob.:)
dsrdsrdsr Posted January 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2014 July and August are the best times for sunshine, if you want as much of it and as hot as possible. You wouldn't be able to spend long sitting in the sun at those times of years, though. If you want it a bit cooler, so you can stand in it for 5 minutes without sticking to the floor, you need later in the year (or earlier, but I'd recommend October because it's been good for me.) Wikipedia has climate averages for most cities. Look on there.
Adventures ahead Posted January 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2014 My research told me it may rain more in October than September so we picked this coming September. June has even less, but I won't be retired yet :)!
Waihekean Posted January 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2014 August and September are very hot and very crowded. Going this year in July and apparently is also hot and crowded:eek:
kkpcruiser Posted January 24, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks all! It sounds like June or September may be the winners. I don't mind hot but could prob do without sticky/ humid! It does making walking distances in ports draining. For those who have traveled from us , do you book air way in advance or Keep an eye on it ? Thanks again
