Hotel near Vancouver Airport

We are arriving in Vancouver late night, around midnight, and plan on taking taxi to pier the next morning .

 

Any suggestions for nice hotel relatively close to airport?

The Fairmont is EXCELLENT but can be a bit on the high end from a price standpoint. If you are using a travel agent for your cruise check with them as they may get you a better price .We stayed there after our cruise leaving early the next morning. It is actually located IN the airport. The bellman took our luggage all the way to the airline check-in counter.

We stayed at the Marriott in Richmond and it was a nice, but not fancy place. The SHeraton and Hilton were right next door (they all share a free airport shuttle).

 

Across the street is the Richmond Shopping Mall and across from that (about 2-3 blocks from the hotel) is the stop for the Skytrain. We took this to the pier the next morning at a cost of $2.75 per person - takes 25 minutes. Must be able to carry your own bags of course, but with wheel suitcases it was not a problem. The last stop is within a 5 minute walk from the pier (2 short blocks).

Have you done a search on expedia or hotels.com ? Narrow your search to hotels near the airport with a 24 hr shuttle.

There have been numerous suggestions regarding Vancouver hotels posted on the West Coast Departures Cruise Critic forum. While I haven't read this thread recently, take a look at one titled something along the lines of "Vancouver Questions Answered by a Vancouverite."

 

And just to add my comments regarding Vancouver hotels -- we stayed at the Pan Pacific two nights before a cruise this fall, and just loved the hotel and the location. Perfect for those departing out of Canada Place.
