Boatingmom Posted February 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Just wondering what the Jewel Pool area is like. Bar? Food? Music? Loungers?? Any pics? Loved the food on Princess at the main pool. Wondering if I have to go to the windjammer for ice cream and burgers for the kids.
ahecht Posted February 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) Just wondering what the Jewel Pool area is like. Bar? Food? Music? Loungers?? Any pics? Loved the food on Princess at the main pool. Wondering if I have to go to the windjammer for ice cream and burgers for the kids. Bars, yes. The pool bar is right next to the pool, the sky bar overlooks the pool, and there are also roving waiters. There is no permanent food on the main pool deck, but they will often set up an outdoor buffet at lunch time on sea days (one day it was burgers and hot dogs with fries and tons of toppings, another day it was make-your-own nachos and baked potatoes). Windjammer is also directly next to the main pool deck. The Solarium pool does have the Solarium Bar for drinks and the Pizzaria (what they used to call the Solarium Cafe) that has pizza and sandwiches between noon and the start of dinner and again from after dinner until late at night. Unlike some of the larger ships, there isn't an ice cream machine on the pool deck. There is always music being played, including a live band at times that would set up in front of the entrance to Windjammer. Yes, there are lots of loungers, but depending on the type of people on your cruise they may all be "reserved" with towels, single flip-flops, and dollar-store paperback books. The pool staff wasn't great at enforcing the no seat saving rule. Here's the best picture I have. It didn't come out great because it was taken through the tinted glass of the Viking Crown Lounge during the Belly Flop contest. The two bars can be seen near the top of the picture, and wood area at the bottom is where the band would set up (it's also where they would hold events such as the ice carving demo, World's Sexiest Man competition, etc.). cb at sea Posted February 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Unless you need loungers right next to the pool, there are lots more loungers on the decks above the pool....less crowded up there, too!
AmyWrites Posted February 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2014 There are loungers, a bar, no food, but Windjammer is nearby. Not a relaxing atmosphere, as it's always crowded and loud.
