Saving Certificates

I am considering booking a cruise for this coming October. I checked the current savings certificates and right now there is NOT one for the cruise I'm looking at.

 

Does anybody know if I book it now and then a saving certificate comes out in the new batch (I think 3/31), can it then be used on this reservation or are they only good on new reservations?

NOT just new sailings unless it says so. We booked our June Serenade Med cruise a year ahead of time and just saw a savings certificate a week ago. Called the travel agent and she was able to apply it within the hour with a quick phone call to RC. It did have an expiration of 3/31 or final payment whichever came first.

These come out quarterly, on the website, for former RCI cruisers. After your first cruise you can join their Crown & Anchor society and be eligible to use these.

You have to be a crown and anchor member (loyal cruiser) to get them. You can apply to be a member after your first 3 day or more cruise

I believe these are only valid if issued in the same quarter as when you booked the cruise. So if you booked in December & they issued a certificate in January you could not redeem it ...

Not correct. I've done them many times months after booking. In fact almost up to final payment date.

Actually you are both correct....I believe there was a bit of a controversy going on a few months back where the RC reps would only let you apply a SC to a cruise booked in the same quarter as the certificate was issued...it spurred much speculation here on CC regarding "changes" coming in the C&A program...to my knowledge there hasn't been any problems recently with applying a new certificate to an old booking...
