Celebrity Nickle and Dime,

Celebrity offers a number of personal choice options. Personally, I like options. On the M class ships there is the specialty restaurant that is outstanding and well worth the price. I will use it at least once on each cruise when it's available. Instead of a bottle of water in your cabin for sale, there is a carrafe of water for your use. Anything with a charge is optional.

I understand, that options are nice, but i would be a little chocked if i had to pay extra to use a certian pool. I guess i would be more happy if celebrity was more upfront on what options there are and outlineing there cost, although money is not an issue.

Do they have a list of there options, with or without cost, i have been unable to locate one on the website.

And i understand the SPA costing more cause someone has to acctully attend to you.

I have a very small amount of ambivalence on this. Yes it would be nice to be truly all inclusive on the other hand I think I truly prefer the option approach.

I dont really go for the massage/personal spa services.

I do like the alternative restaurants.

I drink sometimes and generally stay away from soda.

I dont always do shore excursions.

You get the point.

When it comes to my satellite service I wish I had less all inclusives and could pick the dozen or so channels I really want and not the whole deal.

That being said I want true value with a chosen option and I dont want to see the base product to turn into a mcdonalds either.

If the Tpools are the same from ship to ship why does one class ship charge and the other not charge? That's not making logical sense to me since they are run by the same company. I thought they try to keep all things created equal when it comes to extra charges.

I whole heartily agree I like options, but want to know which ones I pay extra.

I Decide what I want, I don't drink soda, I don't like Starbucks "designer" coffees. I do enjoy an old fashioned regular brewed coffee (dining room).

I want the best value for my money, but I don't want to see cruise prices go up because they include, for example, soda.

I need to have something "included" to drink, but give me something and I'll make do. The options are great for people who "NEED" them or have the money to pay.

I love cruising, but I shouldn't have to pay for everyone when I don't use a service. Just be UPFRONT and let me know. THEN I WILL DECIDE!

Options are a GOOD thing.

Hey there :D

All T-pools are not created equal! The M class ships have a larger, more public T-pool while the C class ships have a smaller, more powerful theraputic pool located within the spa area. Thus the extra charge for the C class ships. Horizon and Zenith do not have T-pools.

Also, several years ago they tried to charge for the T-pool on the M class ships but there was such an uproar from customers that it had been advertised for free, they relented. Never changed the charge on the other ships.

I do agree with this, so I ask when I board & learn the truth.

I Decide what I want, I don't drink soda, I don't like Starbucks "designer" coffees. I do enjoy an old fashioned regular brewed coffee (dining room).

So that is either room ervice or the buffet to get coffee FREE anytime of the day. In the dining room for breakfast, linch & dinner it is free also. BUT specialties are NOT (Cappucino, espresso, etc) Go to the Cova Cafe, which is a leased restaurant chain onboard & they charge for their coffee since they have to pay rent.

I want the best value for my money, but I don't want to see cruise prices go up because they include, for example, soda.

Soda isn't a requirement with us as we have juices, lemonade, iced tea all FREE & available. If we have a taste for a Diet Pepsi, we buy a 12 pack onshore & put it in the fridge.

I need to have something "included" to drink, but give me something and I'll make do. The options are great for people who "NEED" them or have the money to pay.

In CC category you have a bottle of champagne icing & waiting for your arrival. We will drink it for a few days before dinner or after. We are not folks who down a bottle a night!

I love cruising, but I shouldn't have to pay for everyone when I don't use a service. Just be UPFRONT and let me know. THEN I WILL DECIDE! Options are a GOOD thing.

I agree & that is why we cruise Celebrity not Seaborn with their free wine since I don't like warm wine. I want to cruise & pay for my time in a CC AFT cabin. I want to tip from my hand to people who deserve it, not every person aboard who I never even met as the "Tip charged to account does". I am seeing cruiselines that state NO TIPPING since it is included in the cruise fare.

Very glad "X" isn't one of them.

Now I did send an email to he Loyalty Dept to get these perks going for ELITE MEMBERS! Not much difference between Select & Elite, 10 minutes of Net access is a joke as other cruiselines give their top rated customers FREE net access. RCCL has a FREE bar for their top tier, why not "X"? Free shore excursions also with free shuttles for them also.

What is a Tpool?

I for one, like the options: keep the price as low as possible and give us personal choices: if I want to use the spa, I pay, I want to drink wine, I pay, I want to eat in the upscale restaurants I pay. Why should those who don't drink, for instance pay a couple hundreds dollars more for their cruise so I can drink free wine or use the T pool or whatever. What I do object to is things like charging 3 per cent to you bill if you get an advance in the casino like Princess does. Things like this tick me off to no end. That's nickel and diming us. Some, if not all the lines are charging was too much for Bingo as well.

The T-pool on the M class (Millennium, Infinity, Summit, and Constellation) ships is in an open area before the doors to the spa and is quite large. On the Century class (Century, Galaxy, and Mercury) ships it is actually located in the spa and the pool is much smaller and more powerful.

Part of the reason why there is no charge for it on the M class ships - it is really not part of the spa and there is no control over who uses it.

Yes,the T-pool is free to Elite members, but getting back to the real subject of this thread,I think that Celebrity does a pretty good job of balancing things. If you want some nickle and diming how about:

1)Both Radisson and Crystal are charging about $4 per day/per person for fuel.I have clients that are paying over $750 person/per day and they are going to have to pay this extra (actually I'm paying it for them).

2)Cunard charges $100 if you cancel a reservation prior to final payment.

3) Many of the "luxury" lines have cut back on free alcohol, and wines with dinner, yet they have increased the cost/day of their cruises.

Also available on the ship (additional charges apply):

What is not included in your cruise:

The golf sim is a charge item, I only remember saying "Who would spend THAT to hit a ball into a screen?" but then, I haven't played in 20 years. I THINK it was 20 bucks for 30 minutes.

.............and to the person who asked what a T pool is: it has has ben noted it is just before the spa and it is called a T pool because no one, me included can spell or pronunce the full name, this is an approximation; Thaliosotheapy pool, or a Therapy pool of sorts. It has spa type jets in many areas, is warm, and MAy have a mineral content to it, not sure. It is in a very nice area with comfy lounge chairs and also tables and chairs for card playing. There is also a buffet type set up with "light" food and drink.

Geez! THe OP asked for a short list of what's available for an additional charge on an X ship!

He didn't deserve to get a debate about all-inclusive vs. pay-as-you-go!!!

I'd gladly fill him in except my first X cruise isn't for another 6 weeks. But I'd also like to know the answer. So could we have a lot less preaching and a little more factual data? Please?!?

You can have an absolutely wonderful time aboard every Celebrity ship without doing anything that costs extra. Every cruiseline provides options that will add to your bill. In my opinion no cruiseline will offer you more for a comparable price.... Seaborne etc offers more for much more $$.. the lines are not comparable since the premium is that much greater for "luxury lines" You can cruise twice as often on Celebrity for the price of a Seaborne cruise but some people gladly pay extra for the exclusivity that it offers.

I've enjoyed the T-pool because it's free but I would not pay extra for it. There is no charge for withdrawing money at the casino... since the chance is pretty good that they'll get it all back. Telephone calls home will cost as well as internet, alcohol, specialty coffees, sodas, tours, tips etc.

Enjoy the cruise, bring a few extra bucks and sample what you like... and above all, enjoy... there is no experience like it for less.
