Going on a Western cruise soon on the Oasis. Where is the best place to buy REAL jewelry..specifically a replacement wedding set? Ports? The ship? We are going to Labadee, cozumel, and Falmouth.

I'd suggest buying from a trusted jeweler in your home area.

I understand wanting a special item for sentimental reasons, but I would be hesitant spending a lot of money when it would be difficult to know the quality of what you are buying. Maybe buy a lovely piece of larimar.

Those ports are not known for jewelry. Cozumel maybe for something silver.

 

St. Maartin and St. Thomas have all the jewelry stores. Some people do well on these islands, others not so much. You have to know what you're looking for and looking at.

 

Maybe something silver in Coz and something "fun" (costumey) from the ship?

There's always Diamonds International but make sure you know what you're doing. I love to shop in Cozumel for unusual earrings, souvenirs and vanilla. I've also bought silver because I know what I'm looking for and good prices. I'm not brave enough to shop for gold or gems.

I would be extremely careful and do research before buying anything valuable on a trip. There's lots of horror stories and it's not like you can easily return these items if there's a problem. Use caution when purchasing from Diamonds International. They have a partnership with cruise lines and offer large "discounts". You will definitely find better deals at home unless you want some silver bling in Cozumel. The best store I have found in Cozumel is called Los Cinco Soles.

From what I understand, they can have good pieces and prices if you know what to look for. But they do have a close relationship with the cruise lines. And obviously returning something could be an issue if you discover an issue later.
