firemanbobswife Posted February 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2014 A lot of the ships have the new sucky entertainment. To give you an idea, I went on the Glory in May, October, and am going again this May. I chose this ship because I had such a good time (beat the pants off of Conquest last month) and I want to try the new menus for myself. I'm in no danger of starving on the cruise should there be a night or two that I might not be crazy about.
golfadj Posted February 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We were on the Glory last week and thought the new menu while limiting choices was fine. Now the entertainment not so good. Didnt like playlist productions at all and no rock cover band. Best entertainer was the table magician.
Out to sea! Posted February 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2014 I was on the Glory back in April. Loved the ship and the food. Did not go for the entertainment so can't comment on that.
k2excursion Posted February 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2014 A little over a year ago, Glory changed their entertainment in the showroom to the new sucky Playlist Productions: no live music at all, 8 or fewer performers who sing/lipsync & dance, no props, and only 30 minutes long. I didn't think much of these shows on the Breeze. As opposed to feeling like you've actually gone to the theater and seen a show, you feel like you've just simply sat through some karaoke. That's been the worst part of this 2.0 movement, the downgraded entertainment. If this doesn't matter to you, then you probably will be just fine. Most of the other changes that you will notice are not much worse than what they had before. Some could actually be a little bit better.

Aplmac Posted February 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) We have a trip of 11 booked for the fall, not finding many good reviews about the Glory. You seem to put huge stock in other ppl's biased opinions? I stopped reading reviews ages ago. 99% of them are pure piffle! whether "good" or "bad" . LadyDAC Posted February 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We were on the Glory in Oct. and are going again in April. The MDR food was good in Oct. but that was before the new menus. Loved Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana. We didn't do any shows but I'm hearing the complaints are not limited to the Glory but to all of the 2.0 ships. We enjoyed our Oct. cruise and can't wait to be on her again in April!

I've been cruising on CCL since 1992 and the entertainment has taken a turn south for the worst while changes are to be expected at least make them positive changes. When I started cruising in 1992 I CCL think had the best entertainment at sea . I think the days are numbered for live entertainment on all Carnival ships, hopefully I'm wrong. rockbock Posted February 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) I was on the Glory in December. The entertainment was poor compared to other Carnival ships. I also didn't like the new menus, but that's going to soon be the same on every ship, so I wouldn't not book because of the menus. If the price is right, no cruise is a mistake. However, if you're really looking forward to good evening entertainment, the Glory will disappoint. If you enjoy the piano bar, karaoke, comedy, or casino for evening entertainment, the Glory is a beautiful ship and you'll have a great time. Oh yeah - my father and sister are smokers. They said the Glory is the worst ship they've ever been on for smoking accommodations. I hate smoke, so it was wonderful for me, but I can sort of see where they are coming from. The designated smoking areas on the Glory have no hot tubs and there aren't even any tables where you can eat or play cards. Just a few chairs and even fewer lounge chairs. No smoking anywhere on Lido on the Glory. Edited February 14, 2014 by rockbock
WAHMto5 Posted February 15, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2014 All what you make if it. Just remember what one person likes, another doesn't like. We are booked for the Glory in May and cat wait to try the new menus! Even if you don't like them, there are a bunch of other places to eat;)
1959kar Posted February 15, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2014 I was just on the Glory last month, she's just fine, I happened to like the new menus, entertainment was okay, spent alot of time watching movies under the stars/dive-in theater, had a great time. larkz Posted February 15, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2014 There are more than a dozen four-to-five-plus star ratings right on the first page of CC's reviews for Glory (and plenty more on following pages). The overall rating shows that 77 percent loved it. I normally pay attention to reviews that cover specific questions that I have, and balance the good with the bad. Any mention of food or music is subjective, so I don't pay any attention to that. Reviews can be useful for tips and advice, or insight into things you haven't experienced before. But I refuse to let them shade my experience.

stobe1 Posted February 15, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Just go and enjoy your trip and quit worrying about other people's opinions. It's what you make of it. Besides, any complaints you read are all first world problems anyway. Have fun and leave your worries at home.
larkz Posted February 15, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 15, 2014 When more than 3/4 of the people here who have seen playlist production pan it seems like a trend to me. Yeah, I don't dig into ship productions much because they just don't matter to me. To be sure, I look for clean accommodations, reasonably good food, relaxation on the ship, and my own thrills in the ports. I'm too close to Chicago and Milwaukee to see much point in looking for great entertainment on a cruise ship. I suppose if that were important to me, I'd be looking at the pricier cruise lines entirely, because most of what I've seen on Carnival is only modestly entertaining (although Dancin' in the Streets on Dream was, if not my cup of tea, a pretty spectacular show). ckhappy Posted February 15, 2014 #19 Share Posted February 15, 2014 We are going in October too. On the 18th. We are excited to. We did booked the FTTF and are debating on booking a cabana in half moon cay. We have been on two other cruises one with royal ( navigator) and celebrity ( century) celebrity was great all around. Royal was OK not impressed. I have been reading the reviews and decided its all based on individual opinions. So I will wait and see. I thought maybe if they got enough complaints they would change it before October. LOL but I f Doubt it. Does anyone have any good things to say about the Glory? Go into it with a good attitude. Your attitude is half the experience. My last cruise had a trio that I did not like, but on the cruise ship there were a lot of other options for me to choose from, not limited to but including people & ocean watching. They aren't going to make you cook or wash dishes! Bring a book & a deck of cards so that in the worst case scenario you can entertain yourself. Does anyone have any good things to say about the Glory? I enjoyed the glory very much! I thought wrote a positive review. The 2.0 upgrade enhanced the ship and experience quite a bit. The dining crew was excellent. The mdr menu was simpler, but i always had enough to eat. The desert selection however was quite limited. I never ate lunch or dinner at the lido buffet, lunch was always guys burgers or blue iguana cantina. I did not go to the shows so i cant comment on those but i do know i walked by a few times and almost sat down as the music they were singing live was pretty well performed. There were various 2 -3 person bands playing throughout the ship in the evenings. I would not hesitate to go on the Glory again, not too big or too small. davy jones Posted February 16, 2014 #23 Share Posted February 16, 2014 I had a good time on the Glory, but the entertainment was subpar. I can't speak for the new dinner menus. The burger bar and burrito bar are good additions. I would sail it again if the price is right. It appears that all Carnival ships are headed in the direction of 2.0 entertainment and dinner menus. The Glory is the first to have both.
