Ideas for New York Pier Parking

Trans Bridge Buses go from Allentown, PA through NJ to the Port Authority at 42nd Street and a $9 cab ride to the pier. Round trip bus ticket from Allentown, a three hour trip, costs $48, but 62 and over is $25 round trip. Of course there are other stops in Easton, P-Burg, Clinton where the round trip is even less.

Even better is the TransBridge pier service. It goes directly to the pier from Bethlehem, with a single stop in Clinton. Long term parking is available at the Bethlehem depot.

Where exactly is the parking at the pier? on the pier or nearby? My wife has a bad knee and I see you cannot drop off before you park. That alone might make me want to park elsewhere and get dropped off by taxi or car service.

The parking lot is on the roof of the pier. You can drop your wife near the elevator where she can wait for you while you're parking your car. You then ride the elevator down one level to check in for your cruise.

By the way, you also can drop her at the front door of the pier at the check in level first if you prefer, but that would require you to then leave the cruise terminal complex and drive back up 12th Ave. and reenter the cruise terminal complex at 12th Ave. and 55th St., where you can drive up to the parking level. It's a lot simpler and faster to just drop her near the elevator that is near the entrance to the parking lot, as I suggested in the first paragraph.

As NJH noted above, it's super easy - here's a link to one detailed pictorial guide, graphics & illustrations and one of the most current info on the FAQ.

P.S. If you arrive at the pier between 10 and 11:30 am, pax returning from the prior cruise would be pulling out & leaving, with plenty of parking spaces closer to the elevator - or, just stop & drop DW off with luggage, drive up further a bit & find a spot. Walk back and take the elevator down to level 2 - you might even find a porter or 2 "escorting" disembarking pax with luggage to their cars, and some greens would surely help take care of transporting luggage from the rooftop area directly.

View of the Pier 90 parking lot from the Splendor in 2013 - the BA at Pier 88 and pax using another rooftop parking directly on top of the terminal, right next to the ship (around 1 PM after we'done with buffet lunch)
