Ins. to allow return if kids have an emergency at home?

My husband and I are travelling on Royal Caribbean on March 6th, booking today. What is the best insurance policy that would cover a return flight home from Cozumel if there is an emergency at home with the kids?

 

I have looked at several policies, and am confused at which ones would allow a flight home.

Insurance

 

First and foremost would be wording in the policy to the affect of coverage of family members not traveling with you.

 

Emergency

Second would be the insurance policies and definitions of "Emergency" and does that definition equal your definition.

Kids missing mom and dad? probably not an emergency

Kid fell and broke an arm? probably not an emergency

kid ate something and is having life threatening symtoms? probably an emergency

 

Also note: Even if covered, travel back home would be at your expense, then,, when claim is submitted,, IF the insurance company finds it to be a covered event,,, they will reimburse up to covered amount.

 

If something like this were to happen,,,, you're best option would be to contact the insurance company and let them now what is happening. Please note that a phone conversation and any assistance given does not mean they guarantee that your claim will be covered. Claim approval is done at a much higher level at a later date.

You are looking for a policy with "Trip Interruption Return Trip" coverage, or something to that effect. In recognition that it's often kind of expensive to do this, coverage is usually 150% of your Trip Cost.

 

But yes, if something bad would happen, make sure you understand what would and would not be covered so you can make your decision with open eyes.
