shiner6 Posted February 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2014 I have read many reports on this site and am now divided-please help me make a decision. We are in port from 7a-8p via Princess Cruise in June. Both tours sound amazing!! Which one would you choose if you had a 8 year-old :) and why? Budget Queen Posted February 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Have you asked the 8 year old? You are talking about 2 VERY different tours. Each could be of interest. Ask the 8 year old if they want a boat or train/van? Are they obsessed with zoos? Is something else included with the Haines tour? I wouldn't consider it, if that was the only feature. Rare ceilidh1 Posted February 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We did the Kroeschel excursion with our 5 year old and she LOVED it - she really enjoyed seeing all of the animals and getting to feed the reindeer. I wasn't too enthralled, I found it quite depressing to see so many lovely wild animals locked into small enclosures (even though he kept assuring us they had been "rescued" I had my doubts!). It just seemed very unnatural - still, if you can overlook this aspect and like zoos then this tour may suit you all. I haven't done the Dyea Dave one, so can't comment on that. One thing I do recall about the Kroeschel tour - the boat to Haines was really nice, but when we got off in Haines we were loaded on to an ancient school bus that took us to the "farm" - it took about 40 minutes and we literally felt every bump and jolt along the way. Glad none of us suffered from motion sickness!
